Epic Games is currently running a daily holiday giveaway with free games up for grabs from December 17 through to January 1. Whilst Epic hasn't announced the titles on offer, a list was leaked which has, so far, been entirely accurate. Today, that hot streak continues, as Metro 2033 Redux is available at no cost for 24 hours - add it to your library and keep it forever.

The game has dropped from $20 to nothing, although it isn't the first time that it's been available for free. So, if you're an avid Epic Games Store user, then you likely already have it. For those who missed out, however, now's the time to remedy that.

It's safe to say that the leaked list of 15 titles is spot-on and will likely continue to be so. With that being said, tomorrow's free game should be Tropica 5 followed by Inside, Darkest Dungeon, My Time in Portia, Night in the Woods, Stranded Deep, Solitairica, Torchlight 2, and Jurassic World Evolution.

If you've somehow never heard of Metro 2033, it's a modern linear story-based FPS based on the novel of the same name. Like Fallout, the world is a post-apocalyptic wasteland but, unlike Black Isles' hit RPG, it's set in Russia.

The name comes from the fact that the survivors, to avoid the horrors lurking above, went into hiding in the Moscow underground, transforming the subway into their home. This all takes place, as you probably guessed, in 2033.

The difference between Metro 2033 and Redux is that the latter is a port of the original game into Last Light's engine, meaning that the original has an updated user interface and better graphics. So, what you're getting on Epic Games today if you so choose, is a remaster of a beloved modern FPS hit all about mutants, dystopia, and internal conflict. If you do end up downloading it, it's best to play it with Russian dialogue and English subtitles for maximum effect, trust us.
