Metroid fans rejoice - advertisements for Metroid Dread have started popping up in Japan, proving that it's actually real and not just some Nintendo fever dream.

As reported by Nintendo Life, Twitter user ForkballMono posted an image to his Twitter page showing an advertisement for Metroid Dread emblazoned across it. According to Forkball, the advert can be found on the Yamanote Line in Toyko.

Forkball said, "Metroid Dread ads are already up on the Yamanote Line", with an image of the poster, which shows the main cover art. For a series that's been as quiet as Metroid, it's quite a sight to see it being advertised like it is. It's likely that we'll see these adverts popping up all around the world as we get closer to release.

Although very popular overseas, sales charts show that Metroid never took off quite as much as series like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, so it's nice to see Nintendo putting in the advertising effort here.

If the past few months have been any indication of its popularity, it's possible that Metroid Dread isn't going to need the extra advertising push. After first being announced it was a top seller on pretty much every version of Amazon, and became a top seller at game retailers everywhere. Don't even get us started on the limited edition and amiibo, which sold out within the same day that they were put up for sale.
