Brazilian Counter-Strike team MIBR have set their sights on 17-year-old Ignacio “meyern” Meyer, according to a report from Globo Esporte and confirmed by HLTV.org. MIBR is reportedly looking to replace Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles with the up-and-comer on the starting roster. LUCAS1 joined MIBR in June of this year as replacement for João “felps” Vasconcellos.

Ignacio “meyern” Meyer joined Argentinian team Isurus in December of 2018. During his time with the organization, the squad won the ESL LA League Season 3 Finals and qualified for DreamHack Masters Dallas. The teenaged star transferred to Sharks Esports in September of this year. Since his signing, Sharks finished second in two weeks of ECS Season 8 and topped their group in ESL Pro League Season 10. Their ESL Pro League placing earned them a spot in the LAN Finals in Odense, Denmark, which the team is currently playing in this week.

Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles signed with MIBR in June, taking over for rifler João “felps” Vasconcellos. LUCAS1 gained a lot of notoriety on the former Immortals lineup, another Brazilian team that made an unlikely run at the PGL Krakow Major in 2017. The squad lost to Gambit in Grand Final. Immortals ran into controversy in the months following, which resulted in the team being dropped from the organization. Despite the undeniable talent, he and other Immortals teammates struggled to find teams. LUCAS1 played on Luminosity for a year before being picked up by MIBR. He was later joined by former Immortals teammate Vito “kNgV-” Giuseppe.

Meyern is considered to be one of the brightest rising stars in South American Counter-Strike, as the 17-year-old frequently tops the scoreboard for his team. He holds a 1.24 rating for the last three months. MIBR’s veteran squad has struggled to find consistent results in recent months, finishing in 13-16th at ESL One Cologne and 12-14th at the StarLadder Berlin Major. MIBR did qualify for both the ECS Season 8 Finals and the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, and are currently competing in the latter this week alongside Sharks.

The reports suggest that MIBR wants this move to go through prior to cs_summit 5, which begins on December 12th. The Beyond The Summit event will be MIBR's final tournament of the year. Should the move go as planned, meyern will debut with MIBR at cs_summit 5.
