Microsoft Flight Simulator is great, but most of its cool add-on hardware is only available on PC. The Xbox Series X and Xbox One, sadly, don't have a lot of options for flight sim fans looking for an authentic HOTAS setup.
Until now. Thrustmaster has just announced the new TCA Pack Boeing Edition which brings authentic Boeing-licensed controllers for Microsoft Flight Simulator on both PC and Xbox.
The TCA Pack is actually composed of two items, with the first being the TCA Yoke Boeing Edition controller. It's a one-to-one replica of the same yoke used in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It has a pendulum design that lets you push the yoke in to control your pitch and turn the yoke to roll your aircraft. Yaw is controlled by foot pedals, which are sold separately.
Besides having 18 mappable buttons that come coded with Xbox controls by default (making it theoretically possible to use this yoke to play other, non-flight sim games), the Yoke comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack, a built-in removable mounting system, a smartphone/tablet stand for added functionality, and a pair of throttle sliders near the base.
The other part of the TCA Pack is the TCA Quadrant Boeing Edition, an "ergonomic replica" of the Boeing throttle quadrant found in real Boeing aircraft and also the first game device to offer an authentic autopilot system that controls player altitude, speed, and heading. It's got three axes with 17 buttons, and two of those axes are used to control the throttle on two engines (provided you're flying a two-engine aircraft). The throttles come equipped with progressive resistance just like in the real thing, and you can stack two of these Quadrants side-by-side to have throttle control for four-engine aircraft like the legendary 747.
The TCA Pack Boeing Edition comes with yoke, quadrant, and mounting bracket for the low price of $499.99. The Quadrant alone is available for $149.99, with shipping expected to start around Christmas. The yoke alone is $399.99, but won't start shipping until early 2022. Pre-orders for all three are available now on Thrustmaster's website.
