There are countless hordes of Orcs and other creatures to clash with in Middle-earth: Shadow of War. This is especially the case late in the game, and you have one standout battle against a pair of Nazgul that you'll meet at the end of the Blade of Galadriel DLC.

This boss duo, called the Nazgul Sisters, can be particularly tough — which makes sense given their prominence as the quest's main villains. Once sent to Mordor with the goal of conquest by their Emperor father Sagong of Shen, they now serve as one of the game's more ominous bosses.

The Nazgul Sisters: Summary And Preparation

You'll want to be sure you have upgraded and buffed Eltariel to the best of your ability. It's especially a good idea to utilize your bow, as the Nazgul will stand in place at times, and use range attacks of their own.

Be sure to load up on arrows as well as fill up your Might and Wrath Energy meters. These meters can be filled fairly quickly and easily by taking out surrendered Orcs nearby.

The best way to refill arrows is to quickly retreat to the sides of the throne room where the battle takes place, as bundles of arrows will be there.

Rare, Epic, and Legendary gear (especially with effective gems) should be equipped for this fight.

This boss fight will be reached when concluding The Battle for Mordor mainline quest of the Blade of Galadriel. Once you've fought off the Warchiefs outside the Gorgoroth Fortress, enter the keep and prepare to confront the Sisters.

Not only is this a (near) end-game boss, but there are two potent targets you'll need to focus on and evade, and they both have high HP. As you'd imagine, this fight plays a bit differently than your typical Overlord, as the Nazgul will use unique moves and powers.

The Nazgul Sisters: Behaviors And Tips For Beating Them

The Nazgul Sisters will begin the fight by swinging and whipping their chains, which, if struck, will bind Eltariel to the ground. In order to overcome this, use your recently obtained Cone of Light and aim at these binding chains. Once they're dissolved, quickly return to gunning for the Sisters and continue to move.

This rather pesky move will keep encumbering you throughout the fight, but just keep repeating this process quickly. While these are sometimes unavoidable, there are a few instances where the Sisters will give a brief indicator with a flashing red symbol over their heads. As soon as this pops up — dodge, roll, or run clear of the chain.

Other moves and attacks of the Nazgul Sisters include:

  • Teleporting several feet towards you and to the side.
  • Fast-firing green ghostly projectiles (when at a distance).
  • Whipping the chains as a melee weapon (when up close).

The Sisters will spend some of the match impervious to attacks. Just keep moving and avoiding their moves, weathering this state until they've vulnerable to attacks again. When you've safely worked your way close to them, hit them with Light-based attacks to break the Nazgul's armor. This won't actually hurt them, but it is necessary to open them up to stronger attacks and abilities.

Continue to use Cone of Light at a distance to stun them. Elven Rage is also quite effective in stunning both Nazgul quickly. Not only this, but you may be able to stun and whittle down much of a single Nazgul's HP in one fell swoop, getting rid of the extra threat early.

Nazgul will give indications when they're vulnerable to normal attacks upon being stunned and turning white and partly translucent. There's also a shattering sound cue that should be easy to pick up. When reverting to their dark, shadowy, or dimmer yellow color, they are invincible.

Once the armor is broken, start using normal melee attacks and Executions if close, and ranged attacks at a distance. Aim for the heads of the Nazgul when they are stationary. These moves, along with Cone of Light, will build up your crucial Might.

Being undead ghouls, the Nazgul Sisters will also spend some time hovering in the air. When this happens, aim and shoot with your bow and/or Cone of Light.

While it's best to mainly focus on a single target first, it's a good idea to strike according to which is the closer or bigger threat at a given time. When focused on one target, you should at least be able to see where the other Sister is, or have an idea of her position, so she doesn't blindside you. Once one is defeated, you can then focus all energy on the remaining Sister — and the battle gets much easier.

Watch for the Nazguls' HP to turn green. Once this happens, the Nazgul is broken, and you can deal far more damage and finish off the target. This is when you'll want to use Domination.

When both Nazgul Sisters are defeated, a cutscene will kick in regarding their past history, and the fortress will be captured.
