Don’t you ever wish you live in the world of Pokémon? As kids, we would have definitely said yes. The regions are full of lore and offer nice places to go, gym leaders to battle, meeting and befriending Pokémon, anything you can think of! You get to be the very best like no one ever was. You get to catch any Pokémon that has been your favorite ever since you got hooked into the show, trading card game, or video games. It is also a safe haven compared to our world. You earn prize money when you defeat a trainer, free healthcare for your Pokémon, and eventually take on the Elite Four! Also, being able to travel all over the world once you reach a certain age sounds great, right?

As much as living in the world of Pokémon sounds exhilarating and amazing, there are a lot of things that do not make sense regarding logic to either the world itself, or how it would fare in ours. For example, when it comes to breeding, some pairings are absolutely impossible in real life, but totally have no problems in the Pokémon world! While it works differently compared to our world, we cannot help but wonder how the creators have not thought this through when it should make sense. Whether from the games or anime, the stuff that happens in their worlds are not only strange, but sometimes downright hilarious. Here are twenty-five things about Pokémon that make absolutely no sense!

25 You Are Not The Mother!

via: aminoapps.com

Nidoqueen is a classic Generation I Pokémon, paired with her equal Nidoking. While the latter is stronger offensively, this classy queen is still a decent battler. Apparently, when it comes to breeding, it is impossible. For whatever reason, Nidoqueen cannot breed whatsoever despite seeming appropriate to be one. The fact that Nidoking and Nidoqueen are paired makes this incredibly ridiculous since the eggs you get from the Day Care are dependent on the females. The worst part? Its pre-evolution, Nidoran♀, can breed. If there was any logic given in the real world, then Nidoqueen should be able to breed. It is like pairing up someone who is ages older than you. If Nidoqueen cannot breed in the next generation, then Game Freak, the games’ founder, has some explaining to do.

24 Wasted Potential

via: blui129.deviantart.com, mega-x-stream.deviantart.com

With the fifth generation coming along with new Pokémon revealed, ever since Alomomola was first shown, we noticed how similar it looked to Generation III Pokémon Luvdisc. Because of its extra details and the fact that it has a heart shape made us consider that Luvdisc would evolve into this Water-type Pokémon. And we were shockingly wrong! Because of a possible oversight from Game Freak, Luvdisc would stay as the weak and useless Pokémon to use other than HM moves. There is really no excuse that Alomomola does not evolve from Luvdisc. While Hoenn and Unova are far away from each other geographically, it is not too late to reconsider Luvdisc evolving into Alomomola. Even if they are distantly related, that would solve the problem.

23 Not Twins?

via: imgflip.com

Kangaskhan has been an interesting Pokémon. It is female only, very nurturing to its young, and once it Mega Evolves, it is so broken that it was banned from competitive play. There is the catch for the Parent Pokémon. Unlike Nidoqueen, Kangaskhan can actually breed, but what is shocking is that once the egg hatches, it comes with the little guy from her pouch! If you think about it, that is like a two-in-one situation right there. Unless there are twins, it is very unlikely for a newly hatched Kangaskhan to have its child born with it. If it is based on our real-life version of a kangaroo, then it is most likely that when born, the baby kangaroo would not come out in two.

22 Really, Part Flying?

via: knowyourmeme.com

For this entry, pretend Pokémon X and Y have not been revealed yet. In Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, and remakes FireRed and LeafGreen, choosing our first starter was the toughest decision we had to make. Most of you probably picked Charizard because of how strong it is and its design. With its dragon-like qualities, who would not pick Charmander as their starter? Despite its appearance, Charizard is not a Dragon-type. While it would be too overpowered to have one of the starters to become part Dragon, it is completely ironic for a Pokémon like Charizard. You can look at other Pokémon like Vibrava, who does evolve into Flygon, a Dragon-type, it does not look like one compared to Charizard. Other than its huge weakness to Rock-types, not being a Dragon-type is one of Charizard’s downfalls.

21 Born With A Skull Head?

via: knowyourmeme.com

Ever since its Pokédex entry has been shown when capturing Cubone, it has been the center of many theories, fan speculation, and more. The fact that it wears the skull of its dead mother not only makes this poor, cute Pokémon very tragic but unfortunately illogical. Maybe when it was first recorded from the Pokédex, it might have experience that tragic event, but knowing that every time you breed a Marowak and a Cubone comes out, the skull from its dead mother apparently sticks on like glue. Not to mention, why does the Pokédex have to apply to every single Cubone? Not every one of their mothers dies. They are probably standing right next to them. While really heartbreaking, it does not make total sense.

20 Maybe My Arms Are Just Invisible?

via: zeusplara.deviantart.com, pinterest.com

These two may seem very unlikely to be recognized and put together, but there is a very good and rather ridiculous reason for this entry. These creatures right here can learn punching moves, yet they have no arms! What makes this so bizarre is that in Generation V, Emboar cannot learn Fire Punch even though its Pokédex entry implies it can. In what all things logical and sane can make these armless Pokémon learn punching moves? If there is a somewhat correct reason, their evolutions do have arms, but the fact stands that they can learn those moves despite having no arms is still completely crazy. Unless their arms are invisibly or an oversight on Game Freak’s part is something that needs to be confirmed.

19 Egg-ception?

via: reddit.com

What is it with Pokémon and their inconsistency with the breeding mechanics? Forget Nidoqueen not being able to breed, Cubone wearing its dead mother’s skull at birth, and Kangaskhan being born with its baby. How about having an egg, but when it hatches, six more eggs come out! While Exeggcute is a strange Pokémon, to begin with, where is the logic behind six eggs hatching all at once from inside a small egg? In the Pokemon world, there apparently seems to be a lot of erratic situations, and a bunch of eggs hatching from one is certainly one of them. Since breeding was not introduced in Generation I, Exeggcute as a pre-evolution is plausible. There are a lot of things wrong with how this works.

18 Not Exactly Perfect

via: zerochan.net

Arceus, also known as the creator of the Pokémon universe and everything living in it is a threatening and very powerful Pokémon. Its ability is overpowered, making it change to any typing with a specific plate, its signature move Judgement is one of the strongest moves, and yet, it is not as perfect as it seems to be. That is because Arceus cannot learn every single move. It may be the God Pokémon, but this God certainly cannot learn moves like Bulk Up, Taunt, and a few more. Due to its appearance to that of a four-legged creature, it cannot learn punching moves, something that Wooper and Gastly should never be given. Arceus has some competition with Mew since it can learn all moves instead.

17 Four Times Weak To Water? Not A Problem!

via: lukethemewtwo.deviantart.com

Rhydon is a perfect definition of a classic Pokémon. Its design feels and looks Generation I. It even shares the same cry as Charizard if you did not know that. However, what makes Rhydon appear on this list has to do with one of its crippling weakness: Water-type attacks. With it being four times weak to Water, unless it has sturdy, there is no way for it to survive those attacks. Despite all of that logic, it can surf. There are a lot of questions about how that can ever work. First off, would it be pretty much drowning due to its weakness to water? It probably can stomp to make an amount of water rise and then surf on it, but it just does not work like that ever.

16 Why Not Just Go Past It?

via: memecenter.com

If there is one thing us fans hated in all generations expect for VII, it would have to be Hidden Machines. They are the reason we are able to progress all over a region just to get to a city and whatnot. What is annoying is that we have to sacrifice a move slot for one of our Pokémon so we could get rid of what is in the way. A perfect example of a ridiculous HM move needed to get through is Cut. While the games show us pixels of a bush, in real life, we just go pass it since you can go through anyway. The fact that the player cannot go through a bush with HM01 is already crazy to think about.

15 Does Research, Empty Pokédex

via: funnyjunk.com

At the start of every Pokémon game, you are introduced to the professor, and they claimed to be a well-known professor. That is very true given their status, but what is sort of strange is that despite their lifelong research, they give you a Pokédex that is empty. Of course, the main goal is to complete it, but when you really think about it, it sounds counterproductive on the professor’s part. With the region they lived in, they should at least had recorded data somewhere other than the Pokédex right? Or maybe they give you an empty Pokédex in order for you, the player, travel far away from your hometown so they can get closer to your mom, but that is beside the point. The professors may be smart and dedicated to their research, it still sounds weird that they need Pokédex data they probably already got many years ago.

14 Too Cool For A Tail

via: pokecommunity.com

Judging by this image alone, it is a wonderful mystery how Primeape can learn Iron Tail despite not having one. The question speaks for itself. If there is anything that can defend this case, it would have to be the fact that its pre-evolution, Mankey, has its tail. However, it is still bizarre how it can use a move involving a tail and not have one at all. Unless its tail is hidden, then there it makes no logical sense for a Pokémon like Primeape to even know that move. Do not go complaining to Primeape, or it will get mad. Like with Wooper and Gastly having no arms despite being able to learn punching moves, the logic in the Pokémon world is messed up.

13 But You Are An Eel, Right?

via: zerochan.net

Eelektross is a strong and very cool Pokémon. With its Levitate ability, it gets rid of its Ground-type weakness and can be a threat on the battlefield with strong Attack and decent Special Attack stats. Although, since it is based on an electric eel, should it be part Water-type as well? It can do pretty well in the water, so it does feel weird for this Pokémon to not be a Water-type. Not to mention, it lives in the ocean, so that leaves a lot of questions for Eelektross. If it were to receive a Mega Evolution, which is doubtful at this time, it would be a great contender to add the Water-type to its name. Despite the strange logic, Eelektross is still very cool.

12 Not So Smart, Huh?

via: pokemon.aminoapps.com

Who does not love Alakazam? It is one of the most memorable and strongest Pokémon to come out in the first generation. Not only are its psychic abilities really strong, but its IQ is over five thousand. If that is the case, then why, at least in the games, can it only remember four moves? Given each Pokémon you capture can only learn up to four moves, for Alakazam’s case, it is so strange. In the anime, Alakazam, as well as other Pokémon, at least have no limits on moves. The idea of Alakazam going to a Move Deleter and forget one of its moves is not only funny but with how smart this Pokémon is, it could probably remember it milliseconds once it forgets.

11 Too Hot, But Does Not Burn Everything Near It

via: pokemon.aminoapps.com

This Pokémon debuted in Generation II, and while it is not one that would be named first if asked to name a Johto Pokémon, it looks and screams Generation II. The idea of a fire snail not only sounds cool but giving it lava makes it better and rather threatening. With this Pokémon, however, logic is thrown out of the window completely. Why is that exactly? Its body temperature is hotter than the surface of the sun. If Magcargo were to exist in the real world, then it would burn out everything in its path to the point where it is completely gone. It may be four times weak to Water and Ground-type moves, but it will need more than that to stop the mess.

10 Hot Skitty On Wailord Action, Indeed!

via: funnyjunk.com

There was no doubt that this infamous meme known by the Pokémon community would make it on this list. Where to even start? First, it is hilarious to pair up Wailord and Skitty to get the former or latter’s egg. Second, it looks impossible for these two to mate, even though we probably do not want to know how. Third, how on earth are they in the same egg group? The idea of this is so hilarious that it can bring tears to anyone’s eyes, but if logic from our world were brought up in this case, then poor Skitty would not have made it through. While the logic in this scenario is incredibly weird, we cannot help but enjoy how ridiculous this really is.

9 How Does This Biologically Work?

via: pokemon.wikia.com

Just like Ash and the gang, we would assume that every Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny are the same. Unfortunately, that is not true. Whenever they would run into one of them, they either confirm that it is their sister or cousin. While it is a running gag on the show to have more than one Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, it still does not make sense to have them look so similar despite not being the same person. In the Black and White series, they have sported different looks, but it does not help the fact that they are still Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny with costume and hair changes. Not to mention, other than Nurse Joy’s hat, how would you be able to tell them apart? Officer Jenny, on the other hand, is more difficult to tell.

8 Confused? Just Hit Yourself And You Will Get Back To Normal!

via: pinterest.com

Having your Pokémon get hit with a Confuse Ray, Confusion, or anything similar, it is not only a pain to go through, but it is incredibly annoying. What is very interesting about this situation is that whenever it takes effect, your Pokémon will hit itself in confusion. It is very strange to hit itself in confusion since it takes damage and wastes your turn in battle. In what sense does that even make, especially in our world? In a way, it is also unfair. Instead of hitting itself in confusion, it should act like a disobedient Pokémon by using the wrong move, minus ignoring the trainer. If hitting itself in confusion gets their senses back, then it is, unfortunately, a sad and weird way for any Pokémon to do that.

7 Has Wings, Cannot Fly

via: imgur.com

Scyther is another classic Generation I Pokémon we all know and love. With its fierce design, awesome evolution, and being one of the coolest Bug-types ever makes this Pokémon interesting overall. Do not let the Flying-type fool you though. Despite looking like it can fly, Scyther itself cannot learn the move at all. It even cannot learn Cut despite having sharp blades plus having its own mini-game involving cutting wood. However, the main focus is the fact that it cannot learn HM02. Maybe the idea of a huge praying mantis having a trainer on its back and flying seems very off, but with its type, it should at least learn how to fly. It is unfortunate for poor Scyther since it is an awesome Pokémon.

6 Too Good For Being A Water Type

via: phalek.deviantart.com

With Ho-Oh being a guardian of the skies, Lugia takes up the name of being the guardian of the seas. With it being the center of attention in the second Pokémon movie, Pokémon 2000, Lugia was important to the plot to stop the three legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres from causing destruction. Seeing Lugia swim in the water also made it look so amazing and graceful. If there is one thing to point out, it is that Lugia is not Water, but part Psychic-type instead. While this legendary bird does make sense for it to be a Psychic-type, being a guardian of the seas makes it ironic. It would not be a surprise if some people believed that Lugia was part Water-type, only to find out that it is not the case. At least is can learn Water-type moves, like Hydro Pump, to make up for it.
