Every Minecraft player knows the feeling: You've booted up a new Survival world, cooked some food, equipped your iron armor, and headed down deep underground to begin your hunt for diamonds. You dig and dig... and dig some more. Nothing. In your boredom, you make the fatal mistake of mining straight down; before you know it, you're submerged in lava.

Spirit crushed and out of luck, the call of the title screen wins you over, so you boot up a Creative world to let off some steam. But don't stop there; why not throw a few mods into the mix? Whether you want to terraform new biomes, construct a megalopolis, or just fly around and enjoy the view, supercharge your Creative experience with some of the best extras the community has to offer.

10 Extended Creative Inventory: Items Galore

Exploring the Minecraft mod Extended Creative Inventory

One of the perks of playing on Creative mode is that you have all of Minecraft’s items available right at your fingertips—well, almost all of them. There are actually a few missing, and Extended Creative Inventory takes care of adding them to your inventory.

This mod is part of The Vanilla Experience, so you have the option to download it by itself or as part of its mod pack. You’ll also need to add the library mod Collective before installing Extended Creative Inventory. Once you have everything set up, you can access all those items you've been so sorely missing.

9 ItemSwapper: Maximum Efficiency

Using the ItemSwapper mod in Minecraft

If you’re spending your time in creative mode building structures, having to constantly open your inventory to swap out items from your hotbar can be a drag. Enter ItemSwapper: a nifty and simple mod that makes getting items from your inventory into your hands easier.

Not only can you move non-hotbar inventory items into your hands, ItemSwapper’s dynamic lists can categorize items with different subtypes—like tools and food—to make switching between them a breeze. Your massive engineering projects just got a lot easier.

8 Litematica: Your Handy Construction Helper

World editing with the Litematica mod in Minecraft

Litematica is great for creative players who want pixel-perfect constructions but still enjoy the process of building their own creations, block-by-block. This mod generates an overlay of the object or structure you want to create to show you what it will look like in space.

It also helps you build faster and more accurately by providing you with a list of all the materials you’ll need to complete your project. With Litematica active, you can effectively paint-by-numbers by filling in the overlay blocks with the real thing. And if you get tired of building, you can copy and paste entire structures instantly in creative mode.

7 Effortless Building: Architect's Dream

World editing using the Effortless Building mod in Minecraft

This world editing mod does exactly what its name suggests: it makes building super easy. With Effortless Building active, you have an entire set of new construction tools ready to be used to their maximum potential.

Mirroring blocks in real-time, copying and pasting sections of structures, and replacing existing blocks without having to destroy them first are just a few of the handy features you’ll get your hands on with this mod. It works well in Survival mode, too, so if you like switching back and forth between modes, you can keep things running without any hiccups.

6 Jade: An In-Game Encyclopedia

Examining an apple using the Jade mod in Minecraft

Whether you’re searching for the perfect material to feature in a new construction project or just out exploring some of Minecraft’s latest and greatest biomes, Jade is an indispensable quality-of-life mod that makes gathering information about your world much easier.

Use Jade to see all sorts of things you couldn’t before, like your breaking progress, brewing stand processing time, horse stats, and even just plain old block names. If creative mode is about speed, Jade keeps you moving fast by taking the guesswork out of things.

5 InvMove: Can't Stop, Won't Stop

Accessing inventory in Minecraft with the InvMove mod active

This straightforward mod lets you access and operate your inventory while on the move, ensuring that once Minecraft Steve is in motion, he can stay in motion. Practically speaking, though IvMove helps you kill two birds with one stone by enabling you to accomplish typically-monotonous tasks like swapping items into and out of your inventory from the creative item list while you’re en-route to a destination.

You can also move while interacting with a crafting table or other utility item, though there doesn’t seem to be much of a reason to do that. Combined with other quality-of-life mods, InMove offers a glimpse of what Vanilla Minecraft could be.

4 Chisels and Bits: The Perfectionist's Toolbox

Editing blocks in Minecraft using the Chisels and Bits mod

If you’ve ever finished a big building project, stood back, and thought to yourself, “if only it was a little less boxy,” Chisels and Bits is the mod for you. This ultra-fine-tuned building mod unlocks the ability to manipulate in-game blocks down to a level of incredible detail.

Equipped with your new chisel and magnifying glass, zoom in close to the blocks you want to sculpt and start cutting angles unimaginable to the denizens of Vanilla Minecraft. Before long, you’ll have a kingdom that looks like it was rendered in Unreal Engine.

3 Chunk-Pregenerator: For The Frame Rate Nerds

Loading a Minecraft world using the Chunk Pregenerator mod

For players loading up large, rich worlds, Chunk-Pregenerator is a must-have. By pre-generating sections of the map, you’ll be less likely to lag, glitch, or otherwise run into any hiccups as you head out on your journey.

Chunk-Pregenerator is a server-side mod, which means it will work without requiring it on a player's client, but it can be used offline in single-player with cheats enabled. This is great news for Creative players since you’ll want to be able to fly and teleport at high speeds and over long distances without running into pesky, immersion-killing render issues.

2 Structurize: World Building Made Easy

World editing in Minecraft using the Structurize mod

Structurize is like Litematica on steroids. This heavy-duty in-game world editing mod lets you scan structures, replace blocks, copy and paste, and build structures across large areas all at once. It’s a server-side utility mod, and it’s a major component of the larger, interactive MineColonies mod, but you can use it by itself if you prefer.

If you’re into map creation and don’t want to build your structures block by block, Structurize will meet your needs. It makes rapid construction, customization, and terrain editing a breeze, so if you’re prepping a server for your friends or just want to cook up a new, fancy starter base, you’ll be more efficient than ever.

1 Tempad: Beam Me Up, Steve!

Preparing to teleport in Minecraft using the Tempad mod

Warp spacetime at the touch of a button using Tempad, a handy teleportation mod inspired by its Marvel counterpart of the same name. Save a list of important locations to your Tempad, then teleport to them on demand.

Sure, teleportation is already baked into Vanilla Minecraft via waystones and, if you’re using cheats, the /tp command, but Tempad makes fast travel a little more efficient and a lot more futuristic. Plus, who wouldn’t want to feel like a member of the Time Variance Authority every once in a while?
