Somewhere in the distance is the telltale call of the mountain goat, its characteristic "baa" beckoning players to the top of snow-covered peaks where there's now the risk of falling into powdered snow-covered blocks.

All of this and more are coming in Cliffs and Caves Part 1, the latest update to both Minecraft Bedrock and Java editions.

Three new mobs are coming in Cliffs and Caves, including the aforementioned goat. They have a tendency to headbutt players, and they also scream a lot. We're not sure how either of these properties can be useful, but mountain goats do at least have the innate ability to sense powder snow blocks, so just avoid the blocks that goats don't step on to keep from getting stuck in a snowdrift.

Axolotls and glow squids are both aquatic creatures that will make finding underground lakes far more interesting. As the name suggests, glow squids will glow and light up a dark cave, while axolotls will just sort of float and occasionally get into fights with Drowned. If an axolotl loses that fight, they’ll play dead so the Drowned will leave them alone to regenerate, allowing them to get back into the fight and begin the circle of life anew.

Caves and Cliffs Part 1 is also adding up to 91 new blocks. "Some of them will just pop up in the world," writes Mojang in their update, "while others might be a bit trickier to discover."

We know for sure that Amethyst, dripleaves, copper, and powder snow will arrive, but the remaining 87 blocks are a mystery. Copper will be particularly interesting because it'll turn green after being exposed to the atmosphere just like how real copper will oxidize in the presence of air.

Minecraft: Caves And Cliffs Part 1 arrives on June 8 for both Bedrock and Java editions.
