In Minecraft Dungeons, there are so many items, weapons, and pieces of armor to choose from that it can be pretty challenging to find one that both works for you and is powerful enough to beat the tougher bosses. However, with a better idea of your playstyle and the equipment that best suits you for such a game, you'll be making the Arch-Illager and the Heart of Ender shake with fear.

One of the best things about Minecraft Dungeons is how well its combat plays out. Whether you're in a party of four or on your own, you can defeat any enemy that comes your way as long as you have the skill, perseverance, and of course, the right build. While the first two are a little tough to advise, if you're looking for the perfect build, look no further.

Beginner

Beginners Build, daggers and hunters armor

Starting the game can be super exciting but a little disorientating. You slowly find your preferred playstyle and the type of equipment you like but it's pretty easy to find tougher and tougher battles without any decent armor or weapons! So for the beginners, try to focus builds that are easier to assemble, like this one:

  • Armor: Hunters Armor
  • Weapons: Dagger and Crossbow
  • Items: Totem of Regeneration, Fireworks Arrow, Harvester

With a Cool Down enchantment on the armor, Poison Cloud on the Daggers, and Ricochet on the Crossbow, you'll be able to hold your own in the first few battles. As for the items, the Totem of Regeneration will heal you wonderfully, the Fireworks arrow is perfect in a pinch, and the Harvester is ideal for the same reasons, but uses Souls.

DPS

DPS Build, doom crossbow and titans shroud

When playing in a group it's important for each person to have a different role. The most common tactics four-players use is to have two DPS builds, one tank, and one healer. So if you prefer to play as a damage dealer then this is the best one for you:

  • Armor: Titan's Shroud
  • Weapons: Claymore and Doom Crossbow
  • Items: Boots of Swiftness, Shock Powder, Death Cap Mushroom

With a combination of Titan's Shroud and the Boots of Swiftness, you'll be hitting and running before you can blink. Titan's Shroud is perfect for weapon damage as well as a bit of extra health. Focus on added protection enchantments if you find you're losing health quickly.

Tank

Tank Build, Guardian bow, gameplay of the hammer of gravity, renegade armor

The tank is all about health and damage reduction. These players must be able to take the hits and protect their teammates from any harder enemies. However, they also need to do some damage to their opponents! Use this if you want to stay alive a little longer:

  • Armor: Renegade Armor
  • Weapons: Hammer of Gravity and Guardian Bow
  • Items: Gong of Weakening, Death Cap Mushroom, Iron Hide Amulet

The Renegade Armor is perfect for any tank due to its additional health, damage reduction, and weapon damage boost aura. The enchantments are really based on what you need, but if you're stuck, try Frenzied or Final Shout.

Healer

Healer Build, Suns grace weapon and Mystery armor

No group is complete without a healer. They are often so overlooked but vital to any battle and will be guaranteed to save the party in a pinch, whether that's with a Totem of Regeneration or an extra attack. To get the most out of your healer build, use these:

  • Armor: Mystery Armor
  • Weapons: Sun's Grace and Sabrewing
  • Items: Love Medallion, Totem of Shielding, Totem of Regeneration

Mystery Armor may seem a little underpowered for later levels, but the perks of this set are just ideal for this build if you get the right enchantments. Aim for Cool Down, Food Reserves, Health Synergy, and really any others you feel would enhance your survival — as well as your teams.

Close Range

Close Range Build, Death Cap mushroom and heros armor

For those playing Minecraft Dungeons on their own, tanks, DPS, and healers aren't exactly helpful. You need to be all three rolled into one. However, this doesn't mean you don't have your own playstyle! For those of you that love a bit of close-range combat, look no further than this setup:

  • Armor: Hero's Armor
  • Weapons: Broadsword and Heavy Crossbow
  • Items: Death Cap Mushroom, Boots of Swiftness, Gong of Weakening

The unique Broadsword gets you a lovely pushback as well as some extra damage that will help get you out of some tight spots. The items allow you to get away if need be, while still doing some damage and getting that extra hit in when you can — perfect for a solo player who isn't afraid of getting in the enemy's face.

Long Range

Long Range Build, Evocation Robe and the maulers

Long-range is perfect for the squishy types. It can be pretty overpowered and will certainly work well enough when you're on your own — so long as you stay away from enemies. It would also work well as a DPS build. If you want to be the next Robin Hood, look no further:

  • Armor: Evocation Robe
  • Weapons: Maulers and Azure Seeker
  • Items: Firework Arrows, Shock Powder, Wind Horn

If you can get infinity on the Azure Seeker, you'll practically become unstoppable, so long as you stay away from close combat due to your armor. This combination is guaranteed to make you feel like a force to be reckoned with.

Speed Run

Speed Run Build armor and crossbow

For anyone looking at doing a speed run, the build is one of the most important aspects. It can be a little tough to guarantee that you'll find this equipment, but keeping an eye out will certainly help you get the game done as quickly as possible. Try these if you want it done quickly and efficiently:

  • Armor: Ember Robe
  • Weapons: Fangs Of Frost and Auto Crossbow
  • Items: Boots of Swiftness, Light-Feather, Iron Hide Amulet

The armor burns nearby enemies and the weapons do a high amount of damage quickly. As a whole, this build does incredible damage and will probably kill enemies before you even get more than a hit on them. Just keep running and hitting and you'll get that perfect speed run.

Soul Fighter

Soul Warrior Build, Soul robe and Feral soul crossbow

One of the best things about Minecraft Dungeons is its variety. Souls are so unlike Minecraft as a whole, yet players absolutely love them. After all, they're useful, powerful, and have some awesome designs. For a complete Soul build try this:

  • Armor: Soul Robe
  • Weapons: Truthseeker and Feral Soul Crossbow
  • Items: Corrupted Beacon, Harvester, Soul Healer

Depending on if you prefer close combat or ranged, you can swap out one of the items for a Torment Quiver which will aid anyone using the Feral Soul Crossbow. With this build you'll feel, look and act like an absolute master.

Boss Defeater

Boss Fighter Build, a boss and the heartstealer weapon

Boss fights can be pretty difficult if you're not equipped for them. Whether you're on your own or with a group of people, everyone needs to have the right build and the right skills for the job, especially as it gets to the end of the game. Try this if you're struggling:

  • Armor: Fox Armor
  • Weapons: Heartstealer and Guardian Bow
  • Items: Totem of Regeneration, Flaming Quiver, Boots of Swiftness

Fox Armor doesn't scream 'power,' but getting the right set will help you tremendously. That's made even better with the addition of the Heartstealer and the Guardian Bow. Using your Boots and Totem, you'll be able to hit, get back, heal, and go in again. Or, you could hit, get back, heal, and shoot using your Flaming Quiver — with this build, there's a fair few possibilities.

Beast Lover

Beast Master Build, Love medalion, cave crawler armor and the tasty bone

Who doesn't love the idea of walking around the game surrounded by adorable but powerful beasts? This build is perfect for those who play Minecraft and just hunt around for all the ocelots, wolves, and even iron golems, and those who would never kill an innocent bat!

  • Armor: Cave Crawler
  • Weapons: Heartstealer and Elite Power Bow
  • Items: Golem Kit, Love Medallion, Tasty Bone

Using this build will award you with around six companions during a battle, although the Love Medallion does only makes the three enemies allies for ten seconds. Nevertheless, try this build out if you love fighting alongside the adorable animals.
