We were promised the first DLC at some point in July, and to fans delight, the "Jungle Awakens" expansion DLC for Minecraft Dungeons has arrived not in just the first week of July, but the first day. This DLC is the first of two already announced expansions to the successful Minecraft Dungeons series. The second DLC, "Creeping Winter" is expected to arrive in September.

In addition to new missions, levels, and mobs, it seems developer Mojang has snuck in a few smaller balancing changes, added a new difficulty level, and even a surprise new map, "Lower Temple." For those who already bought the Hero Edition of the game, Jungle Awakens can be purchased as a stand-alone add-on for only $5.99. This significantly beats many expectations, in that many were estimating the price for each DLC to be in the $7-$10 range, thus encouraging players to purchase the Hero Edition of the game for an additional ten dollars. It turns out the Hero Edition is still the cheapest way to access the first two DLCs, but only saves you about two dollars and gives you a chicken. For those playing on Xbox Game Pass, paying $5.99 for the entire game plus the first DLC is still an incredible deal.

In the trailer above, many surprises can be found. First of all, right as the trailer announces new mobs, viewers can see their first surprise - Pandas! The trailer does not reveal if these are pets, mobs, or summonable, however, their placement in the video would suggest mobs. The second surprise surrounds the new items debuted in the trailer, many of which were predicted ahead of time by data miners. It is exciting to see the whip and many of the predicted artifacts in action, as well as some seriously cool looking ranged weapons. Finally, the new missions section of the trailer shows some seriously cool looking gameplay from the new DLC, and perhaps a preview of how to access the Lower Temple new map.

While many spent their downtime this 4th of July holiday weekend with friends and family, others had the chance to tear into all the new content this DLC has to offer. If you’re just getting back into the swing of things, why not venture into the land of ocelots and pandas, and loot some seriously cool gear.
