For those who have already completed Minecraft Dungeons and are looking for what else to do, there's plenty more to be done once you've beaten the game, such as unlocking new difficulties, discovering all of the secrets, and collecting the runes.

There are nine runes in total to collect and they only appear once you have completed the game at least once on default difficulty. Once you've destroyed the Arch-Illager, the camp gets a new area in the south-east corner. Following the piston-pads and continuing on your way, you'll end up finding a secret path hidden by trees that leads south. This path heads to a church that has ten runes inside, one of which is already lit up. Now it's time to collect the other nine.

10 Creeper Woods Rune

As the game is procedurally generated, the levels look different every time you play. However, specific sections will always look the same, such as the area that leads to secret levels, or the areas that lead to runes.

For example, the above image is what you are looking for in the Creeper Woods level. Just above the character, you can see a hidden switch amongst the stones; these switches don't appear until after you have completed the game. Hit the switch, enter the hidden door when it opens, and continue onwards to bag yourself your first rune.

9 Pumpkin Pastures Rune

In the Pumpkin Pastures level, you're looking for a scene similar to the above and you'll find the secret switch hidden just behind some crates. Flip this switch to open the secret door that's at the end of the wall, you can just about see the discoloration of where it is in the image.

Once the door is open, you just head on inside and then continue onwards to get your second rune. Once you've obtained your rune, there is no need to complete the rest of the level. You can simply bring up the menu and return to camp that way.

8 Soggy Swamp Rune

When you're in the Soggy Swamp level, you're looking for the above area, with the secret switch hiding out amongst a bunch of mushrooms. Once you hit it, this will open up a door in the brick wall just to the top of the character in the image.

Head inside to collect your third rune. If you happen to miss a rune, they each have an individual design so you can easily pinpoint which level to go to in order to find your missing rune.

7 Cacti Canyon Rune

When you head into the Cacti Canyon level, you're looking for an area as shown above, just in front of a gate. On the outside of the gate, just to the left, you'll find your switch hidden behind a tree and a small wall.

Hitting this switch will open up a door in the area beyond the gate, normally where the key is hidden, and you'll find the entrance on the far wall. Then you can just head inside to collect your fourth rune.

6 Redstone Mines Rune

During your tour of the Redstone Mines, you'll want to keep an eye out for a section of the level that looks like the above. You'll find it around the time you're asked to save the second set of villagers, consisting of six villagers to rescue.

You'll find a switch hidden amongst the Redstones (you can just see it to the left of the character in the image) that will then open a door to the left of you. Head inside to grab your fifth rune, you're over halfway done now!

5 Desert Temple Rune

Enter the Desert Temple level and be on the lookout for the above area; it's during the part of the level where you have to search for the gold key.

Once you find the key, head past it into the northernmost room where you will find a switch hidden in the top right corner. Hit the switch and it will open a short passageway that leads to a door just to the left of you. Continue on to get your sixth rune.

4 Fiery Forge Rune

Onto the next rune! This time you're heading to the Fiery Forge level and you're looking for the strange scene above, complete with deceased Redstone Golem in the foreground. This is close to the start of the level, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding it.

In the top left, you should see a switch on the wall, which will open up a hidden doorway just to the right of you. Head on inside and pick up your seventh rune.

3 Highblock Halls Rune

During the Highblock Halls level, you will come across a small village that will present two different ways for you to get to the castle. You want to take the hidden way in via the outdoor well.

Once you've traveled through the well, head up the stairs and towards the northernmost upper corner, where you find a hidden wall switch. Hitting the switch will open up a secret door just to the left of it. Enter and claim your eighth rune.

2 Obsidian Pinnacle Rune

Once you're in the castle part of the Obsidian Pinnacle level, you want to pass through the banquet hall and into the library. There, on the far wall, you will find a hidden book switch that will open a door just behind it.

Head inside to not only find the ninth and final rune but two treasure chests too, including the rarer obsidian chest. Now that you have all the runes, head back to the church at the base camp to insert them all, which will give you access to the final secret level!

1 The Nether Portal

Once you've completed the game at least once, you can reach the Nether Portal. Head to the south-east corner of the camp and follow on as if you were heading to the church, but instead of going down the path into the trees, you want to continue onwards.

Here, you will find the Nether portal and be rewarded with a chest. Regrettably, the portal is not yet active, but chances are it will be used in future updates or DLC. Additionally, if you continue past the portal there is a path hidden behind a tree that climbs upwards. Follow this path, you may need to roll to keep going upwards, and when you reach the top an obsidian chest will appear.
