With the Caves and Cliffs update of Minecraft, we were given tons of new content ranging from new items to entirely new biomes to explore. This update also brought us several new achievements, including Feels Like Home. This is a strange achievement that involves riding a strider through a lava lake in the Overworld.

To complete this achievement you may have to go out of your way, but we are here to help. In this guide, we are going to go over everything you need to know about the Feels Like Home achievement, including a step-by-step walkthrough on how to quickly complete it. First, let's take a look at the parameters of completing this achievement.

Feels Like Home Requirements

As mentioned above, to complete the Feels Like Home achievement, you will need to "take a Strider for a loooong ride on a lava lake in the Overworld". The length of the ride you will need to take isn't specified in the game, but it will need to be around 50 to 60 blocks from your starting location.

This means that you cannot walk in circles with the Strider; the distance you travel should be in a straight line. Once you have crossed the lava lake with your Strider, you will be rewarded with the achievement.

The first step to completing Feels Like Home is to get yourself a Strider, which we will look at next.

Getting A Strider From The Nether

Striders are a passive mob that you will not be able to tame. This Nether-dwelling mob can be found within lava lakes and oceans in the Nether, and is quite common. If you see a large body of lava, you can quickly find a few Striders.

Although Striders can walk through lava without burning, they often hang around the edges of the lava, allowing you to easily find one to use for this achievement. If there are no easily accessible Striders, just build a platform out to the location of one.

Rather than taming and controlling a Strider, as you would with a horse, you will need to lead Striders around with warped fungus. This is a type of mushroom that grows in the Warped Forest; a green-colored forest biome also found in the Nether.

You can lead the Strider around while holding a warped fungus, or you can attach it to a fishing rod, making warped fungus on a stick. This version of the mushroom is used to lead the Strider when you are riding it so we recommend crafting one.

To ride a Strider, all you need to do is interact with it while holding a saddle. This will place the saddle on the creature, allowing you to hop on and begin leading it with the warped fungus on a stick.

Taking A Strider To The Overworld

Now that you have a Strider, it's time to take it to the Overworld. To do this, you will need to lead the Strider through a Nether portal. Striders move considerably slower when they are not in lava, so it's a good idea to place your Nether portal near the edge of the lava.

With your warped fungus, all you need to do is lead the Strider through the portal and they will enter. If the Strider does not enter the portal with you on top, hop-off and manually lead it with a single piece of warped fungus.

Note: When Striders are not in lava, they turn a dull purple color. This will not damage the Strider, so you don't have to worry about the creature being out of lava for too long.

Making The Lava Lake In The Overworld

Chances are, you won't be able to find a lava lake big enough to complete this achievement. Thankfully, you can make your own lava lake, which will look more like a lava 'road'. To make your own lava lake, you will need to clear out a 60x2 area and fill it with lava. It's important to note that the lava cannot be flowing; you will need to place lava so the surface is completely flat, without it flowing in any one direction.

This can be done by placing lava every few blocks around the edges. If you notice that lava is flowing inwards to a specific block, you can place lava in this spot; doing so will cause the lava to stop flowing.

Once you have constructed your 'lake', hop on your Strider and lure it to the edge of the lava road. Next, just walk straight through the lava. As you approach the far edge, you will get the Feels Like Home achievement.

That's all there is to know about completing Feels Like Home. Don't forget to check out the other new achievements and content that was released with the latest Minecraft update as well!
