Over the years, Minecraft has seen the addition of some pretty scary hostile mobs. While some spawn randomly in the wild and scare the player at night, others need to be summoned or encountered in very specific places. The latter tend to be boss fights and are sometimes very difficult to deal with.

One of the most iconic bosses in Minecraft is the Ender Dragon. While the fight might seem a bit repetitive and boring at times, she's been around for so long that it's hard to dismiss her importance in the game. As the ruler of the End, the Ender Dragon is unique and somewhat mysterious. Thankfully, we're here to share everything we know about her.

10 She Can Be Respawned

The Ender Dragon might be painted as the final boss of the game, but she can actually make a return even after she's been killed once. In order to do so, the player needs to collect four End Crystals to resurrect the dragon.

These End Crystals need to be crafted out of glass, an Eye of the Ender and a Ghast tear. In that sense, they're not too difficult to make, but it does require some grinding and collecting in the Nether, against Blazes and Ghasts.

9 She Drops Tons Of XP The First Time

Some players might ask themselves why they should try and defeat the Ender Dragon at all, and the answer is pretty straightforward: she drops a ton of experience points. The first time around the dragon drops 12000 experience points nearby the exit portal.

After that, each time the dragon is defeated again, it will drop 500 experience points around the portal. This is pretty significant and is a great way to grind bulks of experience if the player has the resources to do so.

8 There's A Way To Pick Up Her Egg

Upon dying, the Ender Dragon will leave behind a small black egg. This item, if interacted with normally, will teleport around the End island infinitely; tt can't be mined with a pickaxe and collected in the normal way. Thankfully, there's a trick.

Digging two blocks underneath the egg and placing a torch there, and then breaking the one block in-between will cause the egg to drop like a sand block. When it hits the torch, it will pop out as a normal item which can then be collected by the player.

7 Her Breath Is A Precious Ingredient

When fighting the Ender Dragon, players will notice the dragon spewing purple breath on the ground. The breath will linger there for a few moments and damage the player overtime until they walk out of the cloud.

This breath can actually be bottled up by interacting with it with an empty glass bottle. Then, it can be used as a potion ingredient to make lingering potions that have a similar overtime effect. It's also an achievement to gather some of the dragon's breath.

6 Her Island Is At The Center Of The End

The Ender Dragon obviously inhabits the End, which is an alternate dimension located somewhere in the Void. The terrain is very difficult to traverse, as it consists mostly of islands with only Endermen spawning here and there among Chorus fruit trees.

The Ender Dragon's island is at the center of everything, nearly 1000 blocks away from the actual End islands where End cities can be found. This is why upon dying it will spawn a portal that will take the player to a random location on the islands.

5 She's The Largest Mob With A Unique Head

Just by looking at the Ender Dragon, it's very obvious she's a unique mob. Not only is her model the most detailed one, but she's also the largest mob in the game, with massive hit boxes. Having a creature like the Ender Dragon in the game gives hope that in the future, similarly gigantic beasts will be added to spice up the game.

The Ender Dragon's head is also available as an item. Once the player enters the End islands after defeating the dragon, they should try and find an End City with a ship. Not only will they find an elytra there, but also a Dragon head which can be worn as a hat or placed in an item frame as a decoration.

4 The Essentials To Fighting Her

Fighting the Ender Dragon isn't too difficult, but at higher difficulties of the game it's good to have the right strategies in place before walking in. Since the center island will also spawn Endermen, which can make the fight difficult, bringing a bucket of water along is a great idea to deter them.

To neutralize the End Crystals that keep the Dragon alive, the player should bring along ladders to climb the highest pillars to destroy the crystals. A powerful bow with either Infinity or as many arrows as possible should also be a staple for this fight. Finally, a good sword to whack the Dragon with when he's idle and on the ground is a must.

3 Fighting Her Requires Extra Blocks

To fight the Ender Dragon, the player needs to enter the End through a portal found in a Stronghold. After that, they'll usually spawn somewhere around the edge of the central island where the fight will take place.

It's not uncommon for a player to spawn on a separate platform away from the central island, which is why it's a must to bring some cheap blocks along to build a quick makeshift bridge to the main island. Otherwise, the player might have no choice but to jump into the void.

2 She Can Ignore Most Blocks

The Ender Dragon has a very powerful body. When perched, it can deflect arrows and only take damage from sword attacks. This also means that any blocks that don't naturally spawn in the End can be destroyed by her if she flies into them.

She can also fly through blocks, and ignores anything that isn't already placed down in the central island. This is why building cover out of wood or cobblestone is a pretty terrible idea when fighting her. Instead, the player can take cover between the obsidian pillars.

1 She's Immune To Most Effects

Considering how powerful the Ender Dragon is, it's not surprise that they have tons of immunities. Any types of status effects that could be gained from potions have no special effect on the Ender Dragon. She only takes damage from bows and swords.

Moreover, she'll never suffocate. Since she's able to fly through and destroy most blocks, she's immune to suffocation. Even if she bumps into blocks found in the End, the Ender Dragon will still only take damage from bows and swords.
