The latest Mortal Kombat 11 patch fixes issues with the Towers of Time difficulty as well as increasing the rewards in the Krypt so smash all those priceless urns is so much more satisfying.

Last week, NetherRealm Studios laid out plans on how they were going to tweak Mortal Kombat 11’s difficulty in the Towers of Time. The Towers are the main place where players are supposed to gain in-game currency (or Kurrency, in the parlance of MK fans) but making progress on challenges was particularly burdensome due to enemy AI and modifiers that some players found a little harsh.

But to their credit, NetherRealm took note of player concerns and detailed how they’d fix it by turning down the difficulty, removing or tweaking some of the Tower modifiers, and generally removing health from higher-level Tower opponents.

With the latest patch release yesterday on PC and PS4, Mortal Kombat 11 gets a much-needed boost to a player’s ability to unlock loot--Anthem should really be taking notes.

Now only have the Towers of Time become easier to complete, we’ve also got a boost to the rewards provided for completing each platform. Koins have been doubled and sometimes even tripled, while Drag Challenge has seen an increase in the Koin rewards as well.

One of the big lines we get from the patch notes is "increased rewards for breakables in The Krypt.” This seems to have been an increase in the average take away from smashing those urns--what used to be a distribution of 1-10 coins now seems to be more like 5-10 coins. This will make each trip through the Krypt much more satisfying and far less soul-crushing.

There’s also an increase in Koin rewards after every fight and an increase in the amount of Hearts earned for performing Fatalities, Brutalities, and Mercies.

And of course, there is also an assortment of bug fixes, especially to the PC version’s netcode that should result in smoother and more stable games.

As a thank you to every MK11 player, the developers are also unleashing a “Community Gift” of 500,000 Koins, 1,000 Souls, 1,000 Time Crystals, and 500 Hearts for bearing with the initial difficulties. You must log in to collect your reward before May 6th at 8 AM CST, otherwise they will be trapped in the Netherrealm forever.
