Earlier today, Sony announced that the upcoming MLB The Show 20 would feature superstar Javier "El Mago" Báez as its cover athlete. Currently playing for the Chicago Cubs, Báez earned the nickname of "El Mago" (or Magic) for his ability to steal bases, evade being tagged, and making incredible catches. In the 2018 season, Báez ended up with 34 home runs, 111 RBI's and a .290 batting average. He's just that good.

In a statement over on the official PlayStation blog, Báez said, "I am so honored and excited to be on the cover of MLB The Show 20. I'll never forget how it felt when I saw myself in the game for the first time (even as a backup!). It was so surreal. Still, it's one thing to see your virtual self, but it's completely next level to be on the cover of a game you've played and love." Last year's cover star, Bryce Harper, gave his congratulations to Báez for the honor.

It's not all simply cover stories, though. In addition to naming its next star, Sony also revealed that MLB The Show 20 will be hitting store shelves on March 17, 2020. Along with a slew of information on various different editions, the company was happy to announce that "Early Access Weekend" will be returning. Anyone that pre-orders one of the fancier editions for The Show 20 will be able to play the game four days early.

As for grabbing the game, Sony is offering up four different versions for prospective fans. A basic old "Standard Edition" that comes with game and a "Gold Choice DLC Pack" will be available for $59.99 on launch day.

The "MVP Edition" will include the main game, a steelbook case with alternative box art, 30 MLB The Show PS4 avatars, two "Gold Choice DLC Packs," a "Diamond Variety Pack," 10 "The Show Packs," 10K Stubs, and Double Daily Login Rewards. This will be available on March 14, 2020, for $79.99.

A "Digital Deluxe Edition" exclusive to the PlayStation Store will include everything from the "MVP Edition," but without the physical disc and case. To replace that, players will get an additional "Diamond Variety Pack," 25K Stubs, 20 "The Show Packs," and five "Gold Choice Packs." This will retail for $99.99 and be purchasable on March 14, 2020.

Finally, a GameStop/EB Games exclusive "15th Anniversary Edition" will come with everything from the "MVP Edition" and include a commemorative 9FIFTY snapback hat for the series. This version can be yours for the "low" price of $99.99.
