MLB The Show 21 will be available on Xbox consoles when it launches on April 20, breaking more than a decade of PlayStation exclusivity. Published by Sony Computer Entertainment, this marks the first time Sony has released a game on a platform outside its own roster – and the first time Xbox fans will get to experience MLB The Show.

"We're excited to share that, with our announced extension with the MLB and MLB Players, MLB The Show 21 will be available for players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S," said Ramone Russell, Online Community Manager for San Diego Studio. "This is a very exciting moment for all of us as the storied franchise will be accessible to more gamers than before. We would like to thank everyone at PlayStation, Xbox, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association, and the San Diego Studio for working diligently to bring MLB The Show to more users."

Not only does this mark the first time MLB The Show is coming to a console outside the Sony lineup, but it's also the first time PlayStation Studios will be publishing a game on Xbox.

MLB The Show 21 will feature crossplay and cross platform progression, letting you continue your season regardless of the console you're playing on. It sounds like there will be plenty of new content to work through as well, with a huge Feature Premiere airing in March that will pull back the curtain on many of the game's upcoming features.

This year's cover athlete for MLB The Show is Fernando Tatis Jr of the San Diego Padres. At just 22 years old, Tatis set a new record for being the youngest athlete to ever grace the cover of the series. It's a long-running series, too, with the first game launching way back in 2006.

MLB The Show 21 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on April 20. A Collector's Edition is also set to be revealed on Wednesday.
