The popular mobile series Reigns will soon be coming to table tops in the form of a party game called Reigns: The Council. The game is a collaboration between Nerial and two prolific board game designers: Bruno Faidutti and Hervé Marly.

The Council is described as an asymmetric party game for 3-6 players where one person plays as a monarch seeking harmony and balance while the others plays as advisers seeking to influence the ruler's decisions for their own agenda. The game utilizes the same themes and low-poly art work that Reigns fans have come to love.

ReignsReigns: Her Majesty, and Reigns: Game of Thrones are a series of casual mobile games where players take on the role of a monarch that is faced with a constant barrage of this-or-that choices about how to handle problems in the kingdom. Each decision is made by swiping left or right and your choice will impact one of four meters that represent the the stability of your kingdom: the church, the people, the army, and the treasury.

The goal of the game is too balance these four factions for as long as possible to maintain your rule. Let any of these pillars get too low (or too high) and you will lose your power and be removed from the throne, ending the game. Each run will present new choices and NPCs that can be unlocked for all future runs once certain conditions are met. Reigns is a God-sim for the Tinder generation.

Reigns: The Council will employ the same balancing mechanic. Each player (besides the monarch) will represent one of the four pillars. If any of them gets to low or to high, the advisor representing that pillar is the victor and becomes the new heir to the crown, while the former monarch suffer a brutal and embarrassing defeat (point and laugh at them for added effect).

The Kickstarter for the board game adaptation will launch on August 29th, the first day of PAX West. Nerial will be bringing a prototype of the game to the convention along with one of the creators Hervé Marly (The Werewolves of Millers Hollow, Skull) to meet fans and demonstrate the game. More info can be found on the official website.
