If you do the majority of your gaming on PC or console, studios pumping money into mobile gaming probably irks you a little bit. There's a reason for that though, and while the end goal is to make money, mobile gamers have been highlighting there are terrific stories being told on the platform.

Keen to hear from other mobile gamers, CoupleLife2677 took to Reddit. Asking what everyone's favorite mobile game stories are, CoupleLife kicks things off by nominating Shadow Fight 3. Although the series doesn't get many more mentions, the number of different games suggested goes to show how many good stories there are to enjoy on mobile.

What might be most surprising is the number of games players claim have dark stories to tell. Lonewolf is right up there near the top of the replies, with one person who loved the game admitting that six years later, they're still waiting on that sequel. Undecember also makes the cut of mobile games applauded for mastering the art of dark storytelling on mobile.

Even though almost everyone reading this right now has a mobile on which they can play games, for most, it won't be their preferred platform or even one they use to play games at all. That's largely due to most associating the platform with gacha and pay-to-win mechanics. Those are addressed in the replies to the thread above, especially when discussing a series called Zenonia. One that was partially ruined by pay-to-win elements by its fourth game according to some people, and turned even more people off when it was made online-only via its fifth installment.

There are a lot of huge benefits to mobile gaming. How many people it can reach, many games being free-to-play, and as the thread above highlights, the quality of stories told through them. This is nothing new either with some of the nominees in the replies being games that launched more than a decade ago. Next time you're looking for a game to play on your phone, maybe scroll past Candy Crush and the latest endless runner and check through the Reddit thread above for something more deep and meaningful to play.
