New Mod Turns Fallout 4 Into The Anime We Always Knew It Was

Fallout 4 Anime Mod Cover

Fallout 4 received a polarizing reaction from fans at launch, but that may have been because it wasn't quite scratching the anime game itch present in the bosom of many gamers. The AnimeRace Nanakochan mod for Fallout 4 aims to change all that by making anime characters playable in the game.

The AnimeRace Nanakochan mod gives the player access to new customization options that they can use to make the characters in Fallout 4 resemble anime people. The effect works well on its own, but there are numerous clipping issues when characters have long hair. There are also support mods that make use of AnimeRace Nanakochan, including the Nanako-chan race vanilla underwear remover, which is less rude than you might think, as it simply removes the default underwear that might be distorted by the drastically different physical proportions of an anime girl.

The creator of the AnimeRace Nanakochan mod is hiyokomod, who explains in the description of the mod that they were inspired by the character of Kasumi. It seems that hiyokomod heard Kasumi's voice before seeing her and was left disappointed when encountering her in the game. The desire to create an ideal version of Kasumi was so strong that hiyokomod worked on a mod that would allow them to bring their anime-version of her into Fallout 4.

The Fallout games have been a popular source for weird mods over the years, which have included adding everything from the cast of Adventure Time to replacing the denizens of the Wasteland with My Little Pony characters. There is a certain degree of artistry in the work that has gone into adding anime characters into Fallout 4, even if there is definitely something creepy about it, especially when regular Fallout 4 characters are walking around in the background.

A total conversion of Fallout 4 that replaces everything with their anime equivalents would be a sight to behold, but the AnimeRace Nanakochan mod isn't quite there yet. As of right now, the audience must be content to find their waifus hidden among the options given to them by hiyakomod.

The AnimeRace Nanakochan mod is available to download from Nexus Mods now.
