Modern Warfare 2 composer Sarah Schachner has quit Call of Duty, stating, "Over the past couple of months the working dynamic with the audio director has become increasingly challenging and I don't see any path forward."

As reported by PCGamesN, Modern Warfare 2's first season and Warzone 2 both feature her music and are set to launch on November 16, but Schachner is "unsure" about when the album itself will release. She added that it's been "taken out of [her] hands".

She also said in her post, "While I don't have any control over how the music is presented in-game, what will be released on the soundtrack is not my artistic intent in regards to mixing and mastering." The director in question, while he remains unnamed in her post, is Stephen Miller, though she didn't go into detail about the working dynamic.

Schachner went on to talk about the hard work of the audio team, praising them despite the challenges with the director, "I would like to acknowledge the incredible hard work of the audio team as a whole, and I hope you still enjoy it because I put so much work and effort into it. The score features some wonderful performances by musicians Baseck, Brain Mantia, and M.B. Gordy. I'm truly appreciative of the outreach so far and I feel a responsibility to the fans to remain authentic in my approach with the game and its sound which I have been a part of creating for many years."

You've likely heard Schachner's music already. She composed music for Assassin's Creed Unity, Origins, and Valhalla, as well as the Predator prequel Prey, so she's no stranger to games, and no stranger to Call of Duty. She was also a composer for the first Modern Warfare reboot in 2019, and Infinite Warfare.
