The Call of Duty series is by far the most sought after IP when it comes to brand collaborations. Food and beverage brands, apparel, and even Lionel Messi, all want a slice of that pie. Things are no different when it comes to Modern Warfare 2, with certain retail outlets securing exclusive deals for in-game items, as has been the norm for a while now. However, considering the sheer volume of deals that have been made, there's bound to be a mix up at some point.Owners of Modern Warfare 2's $100 Vault Edition were supposed to get exclusive in-game content for purchasing it from a particular avenue – via the in-game option available in a few recent Call of Duty titles like Modern Warfare or Vanguard. However, very few people actually bought the game in this manner, leaving those who bought the Vault Edition via other avenues pretty confused. As spotted by Eurogamer, Infinity Ward has now addressed this issue, saying that it understands the cause for confusion, and will give out the rewards to everyone who purchased the edition – a whopping ten hours of double XP tokens as well as ten hours of double weapon XP tokens.
"We understand there has been some confusion about an in-game-store exclusive award for the Vault Edition," says a statement on the Call of Duty Twitter handle. "Therefore, we've decided to reward all players that currently own or purchase any version of the MWII Vault Edition with 10 hours of double XP tokens and 10 hours of double weapon XP tokens.
"Current owners who have not already received the tokens should expect to see them in their account over the next 48 hours."
So, if you happened to purchase a Vault Edition of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, expect to receive tokens over the next two days.
While some players are being rewarded double XP, others have resorted to stealing it off beef jerky. A collaboration with Jack Link's Beef Jerky saw MW2 rewards codes attached to the outside of the product's packaging. This has resulted in hooligans stealing the codes off the shelves without purchasing the jerky.
