Now that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare has been out for a few weeks, players are starting to figure out which maps rule and which ones could use a tweak or two. Every time a new Call Of Duty game hits digital and physical shelves there's bound to be maps players love and others they can't stand. The newest release is no different as it, unfortunately, has one stinker of a map and another that simply feels uninspired.

Let's now take the time to rank every standard multiplayer map from Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare.

10 Piccadilly

For most players, it seems like the setting of one of the game's earlier controversial missions in the single-player portion of the game seems to miss the mark. Piccadilly is a more compact map that leaves little to the imagination when it comes to map flow and sightlines.

It encourages less than respectable playstyles due to the poor overall layout of the map. On top of this, it also helps build the case for how bad spawning locations can be as you'll have the highest likelihood of getting spawn-trapped in this hellhole of a map.

9 Aniyah Palace

Aniyah Palace is a map that features a giant palace in the middle of it with desolate buildings surrounding it. The problem with this map is that the palace itself feels claustrophobic and the sightlines within leave a lot to be desired.

Outside of the palace is a ghost town as most players naturally flock towards the center of it. The problem with Aniyah Palace is that it either needed to make the palace itself grander in scope or shift away from it being the entire focus of the map.

8 St. Petrograd

Unfortunately for St. Petrograd it happens to be the map in which you'll most likely find people trying out the new annoying meta for the game.

This meta includes players touting a shotgun and claymores and posting up in one of the rooms in the buildings throughout the map. The overall layout of St. Petrograd looks like a narrow rectangle, and though that ups the pace of matches, it also is a breeding ground for the vilest of camping strategies. When it comes to this map you may have to join in.

7 Grazna Raid

Grazna Raid isn't the best-designed map in Modern Warfare, but it happens to be very reminiscent of the maps that were found in the original trilogy of games in the series. It invokes a lot of the same energy and design as some of those earlier maps which help lapsed players feel right at home.

The openness of the map can be terrible for opposing teams if an air killstreak is acquired, but remember that there are plenty of buildings you can protect yourself in, or at least try to.

6 Euphrates Bridge

Players who happen to have an affinity for sniping will find Euphrates Bridge as arguably their best place to do so. On top of easily being the most open and sprawling standard map in the game, it does provide areas in which assault rifles and closer range guns can also be highly effective.

Good snipers can take advantage of sightlines that lead straight towards spawn locations, which could quickly get frustrating. It's great that this map lets snipers play as snipers should.

5 Azhir Cave

Azhir Cave is one of those maps that's more enjoyable to play than it has any right to be. The overall design of the map is good, but certain parts feel unnecessarily claustrophobic. It also happens to be one of those maps where half of it rarely sees any action.

Players are often drawn to fighting in the extended cave or near the trench that runs through the middle of the map. The half that includes a broken down village is often avoided at all costs in hopes of finding action elsewhere.

4 Hackney Yard

From the name to the design, Hackney Yard is as English as something can get in a Call Of Duty game. It feels like you're on the set of the new Simon Pegg and Nick Frost film where they're construction workers. The map feels smaller in comparison to many of the other maps, but its circular flow pattern makes it so you never feel out of the action.

Its real Achilles heel is that air-based killstreaks make the fun of a match disappear almost immediately due to having most of the spawn locations in wide-open space.

3 Akrlov Peak

When people discuss maps in online shooters there's often a discussion about small maps versus large maps and preferences for each. Rarely do people discuss medium-sized maps and how they can be the best places for modes like Search & Destroy.

Akrlov Peak does a great job of being big enough to feel like situations can be approached in various ways while at the same time feeling small enough to where it doesn't feel like a chore to traverse. It's the cozy mountain resort that happens to house military combat.

2 Rammaza

Rammaza is unfortunately prone to campers of all varieties, including the currently popular shotgun and clay-more meta. Despite that, it happens to have some of the best built-in map flow in the entire game and players can traverse from one side to another without feeling impeded.

Players who are quick on the draw and play with an aggressive sense of movement will likely see the most success on the map. Rammaza is the biggest hit or miss among players so expect its spot on this list to be controversial.

1 Gun Runner

Is Gun Runner the best standard multiplayer map in the game? Well, arguably yes. It's hard to say it's #1 since a good part of why people love a map is subjective based on the play style they prefer. That being said, Gun Runner has the fewest faults and provides an area where multiple gun types and strategies can be highly effective.

It can suffer from time to time when it comes to spawning, but overall it's hard to find a more solid map in the game than the lumberyard inspired Gun Runner location.
