Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak is packed with quests for a game that has such a simple concept. You just need to kill the monster, upgrade the equipment, and kill a bigger monster. However, you will be missing out on a lot of great rewards and variety if you don't interact with the questing systems.

Newcomers may find that the types of quests available might not make much sense, but once a player gets used it's easy to understand. Split between hub and village quests, understanding the difference will make your hunts much more efficient.

What Are Village Quests?

Village quests are what you'll probably focus on first since these are essentially single-player quests/story missions. These are restricted to being played alone and are intended to help guide you through the game.

Village quests are taken on by speaking to Hinoa in Kamura Village and will be separated by Ranks. You will progress to the next Rank once you have completed a certain number of Key and Urgent Quests of that rank.

Keep in mind that Village Quests only cover Low Rank missions, so their usefulness will run short once you reach High Rank difficulty in the Gathering Hub.

What Are Hub Quests?

Hub quests are multiplayer hunts, and while they don't technically require you to team up with any other hunters, it is highly encouraged since these quests send you on a hunt that's generally more difficult.

How much harder they are will depend not only on the quest but also on how many players are in your party, since the monsters' stats will scale, making them more difficult the more hunters are in it. However, this difficulty adjustment is dynamic and scales on the fly, so if you start a hunt with three people and someone drops out, the game will get a bit easier to compensate.

You can pick up Hub Quests from Minoto at the Gathering Hub on the West side of Kamura Village. You'll also have access to the High Rank difficulty after a certain point, something that the Village Quests don't.

That being said, once you finish the story in those Hub Quests, you will break your limiter and your Hunter Rank will go beyond the number of ranks for those missions.

Hunter Ranks And Master Ranks

Both hub and village quests have their own unique Ranks. These will determine which kind of monsters show up and their numbers during missions, so higher ranks mean higher risks but better rewards.

Since the Village missions are oriented toward single-player gameplay, if you only focus on doing those for too long it will be detrimental to your progress, as the difficulty gap between them can be pretty significant once you reach High Rank, which makes jumping from Village to Hub a hard endeavor if you fool around too much.

If you feel you're progressing too slowly on Village Quests, you can get a Special License Test that will allow you to automatically raise your hub rank up by one, and while it isn't ideal, it's a good way to help you move through both ranks.

What Are The Elgado Outpost Quests?

With the addition of the Sunbreak expansion, the Elgado Outpost brings its own category of Master Rank Quests. Ditching the Village Quests entirely, the missions in this new location count as Hub Quests for all means and purposes, but instead of rewarding Hunter Rank points, they will help you progress across the Master Rank difficulty.

You will have to once again rank up through a new set of Master Ranks, and once you finish the story your limiter will be removed, enabling you to level up your Master Ranks beyond the ones presented as Hub Quest ranks.
