Capcom released a free demo in the eShop on January 7, 2021, and it will be available until February 1, 2021. Players are testing their skills, but before jumping in, there are a few things you should know about the game!

10 A New Rampage Mode

Rampage Mode in Monster Hunter Rise

The developers have stated that they plan to add a new mode called Rampage Mode, but it has been kept under wraps. Little is known about it but you can bet it will feature a battle with multiple monsters, especially the weirdest ones, although the question is how they will play it out. Fans have their own guesses and they often compare it to past modes or a similar vein, but you will just have to wait until its official release to find out.

9 You Can Expect To See More Insectoid And Amphibious Monsters

New Spider in Monster Hunter Rise

There will be plenty of old and new monsters for players to fight, but one big change is that players should expect to see more insectoid and amphibious monsters. The trailer itself gives a quick glimpse at one of these as it shows a spider, and fans determined that it had to be one of the new monsters. You won't want to miss out on these, especially since everyone is curious what the toughest monsters to beat will be in Monster Hunter Rise.

8 Wirebugs Are A New Addition

Wirebugs in Monster Hunter Rise

One of the new features that many players will probably struggle to learn is called the Wirebug. The hardest part about them is the fact that there are special button combinations that unlock moves for your character, whether it be while traversing the land or using it with your weapon while taking down the most annoying monsters. A few of the specialty moves include the Wiredash, Wirefall, and Wall Running, and it will take some practice before you are able to use these effectively during a hunt.

7 Ridable Palamutes Are Cool

You will still have your Palico, but now you also have a mountable buddy known as a Palamute. They are also useful in a fight as they can wield a weapon in their mouth which they use to cut up a monster.

One thing that has also changed is the number of buddies you can bring into battle with you. Players have the choice of a Palico and Palamute, two Palicos, or two Palamutes, but on missions and optional quests you are only able to bring one.

6 Turf Wars Will Return

Monster Hunter combat

An aspect of Monster Hunter World is known as Turf Wars where monsters would fight one another, or even team up to create special attacks. Capcom has decided to expand upon this feature even further, but how remains to be seen. It will create a learning curve as relationships between monsters are redefined and you learn how to use this to your advantage during a fight.

5 Cutscenes Can Be Skipped

Some players loathe cutscenes in games, while others love to watch and see the whole story. If you hate them then you are in luck because these cutscenes can be skipped throughout the game. It will save you some time and put more focus on hunting monsters which is why everyone plays the game anyway.

4 The Same Old Weapons

A Gun in Monster Hunter Rise

Unfortunately, the developers at Capcom have stated that no new weapons will be added to the game, but that still leaves 14 different types to choose from. It seems like a letdown to some fans, although in reality, this game doesn't need new weapons to be fun.

It would push back the release date even further if they tried to add new weapons into the mix, seeing as so much goes into their design. So pickup one of the best weapons from the previous games or try them all out once again so you can decide exactly what build you want to go with.

3 You Have A Radial Item Menu

The radial item menu is a wheel that is equipped with items as well as actions that players use the most in the game. They have decided to bring this back yet again, which is a relief seeing as it made accessing your things a breeze, and hopefully, new mods will be added as well. It makes your life that much easier as a tap of a button will bring it up, rather than having to dig through your inventory to find what you need.

2 Layered Armor Sets Are In The Game

Amiibos in Monster Hunter Rise

Layered Armor gives players an opportunity to change their appearance, without having to choose between better stats or a cooler look. They already have three Amiibos being released with their own themes, and you can even add Amiibos from other games as well. It is a way to get you to spend more money on the game, but it is well worth it if you want the coolest Layered Armor Set in the game.

1 Fights Can Be Chaotic

Chaotic Coop in Monster Hunter Rise

The biggest difference you will notice when fighting monsters is that the fights can be a bit chaotic. You will have up to three other friends with you, as the lobbies were dropped from sixteen to four, as well as their Palamutes and Palicos. It is an adjustment, but once you are used to it you will be able to take down the biggest monsters.
