Capcom has just confirmed Monster Hunter Rise will arrive on PC via Steam starting in January of next year. Along with all the previously released content that the Switch version has received, Monster Hunter Rise on PC will include technical upgrades like 4K and ultrawide support, high-rez textures, uncapped framerates, mouse and keyboard controls, and built-in voice chat.

The newest trailer showcases Monster Hunter Rise in all its 4K glory. It looks vastly superior to what you'll see on the Switch, although it doesn't appear to be all that much better than what you'll see playing Monster Hunter World.

That said, Monster Hunter has always been about the gameplay first, and that's where Monster Hunter Rise truly shines. All 14 classic weapons return in Rise, along with the all-new Wirebug grappling mechanic, Canyne Palamute companions, and Wyvern Riding, which lets you temporarily take the reins of a flying monster.

Monster Hunter Rise will hit Steam on January 12, 2022. You can pre-order now for some extra goodies such as the Novice Talisman, Palamute Retriever costume, and Palico Forest Cat costume.

If you're on the fence about Monster Hunter Rise, a free public demo will be available starting October 13. The demo will include all 14 weapons, a full tutorial, offline and multiplayer game modes, and three hunting quests to build up your skills. Beginner hunters will take on the Great Izuchi, intermediate hunters the Mizutsune, and advanced hunters will try to take down the fearsome Magnamalo.

There's also a new collaboration coming to ring in the spooky season. Become Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Resurrection thanks to a new Event Quest arriving on October 28. This quest rewards you with Arthur's armor that also turns your throwing knives into lances, just like in the game.

November’s collaboration will be with Sega in honor of Sonic’s 30th anniversary. Expect more details on that soon.

Finally, Capcom has given us a few more details about Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the upcoming expansion arriving next summer. It'll have a new story, new base, new locations, new monsters (including Shogun Ceanataur from Monster Hunter 2 and the new elder dragon, Malzeno), new game features, and a new quest rank (Master). To start Subreak, you'll need to have finished the 7-star Hub Quest called “Serpent Goddess of Thunder."
