You encounter Pyre Rakna-Kadaki pretty far into Master Rank, so it isn't a monster to take lightly. Not only does it have Blast element attacks, it can control its Pyrantula offspring more skillfully than the nominate species in High Rank. Here's how to take Pyre Rakna-Kadaki down.

Pyre Rakna-Kadaki - Strengths And Weaknesses

Pyre Rakna-Kadaki in Monster Hunter Rise. A large spider-like monster with orange spikes, covered in black webs.

Pyre Rakna-Kadaki's weakest point is its head, which can be hard to reach since it holds its claws in front of its face. An easier weak point to reach is its legs when they're covered in thread. When the thread falls off, the monster's abdomen will swell up and become vulnerable. Bludgeoning damage is slightly more effective than slashing damage. Pyre Rakna-Kadaki is also easier to stun than many other monsters, so blunt weapons are ideal.

For elements, it's weak to Ice and especially Water damage. Other elements are completely ineffective. Pyre Rakna-Kadaki is slow to become exhausted and doesn't take much damage from being poisoned.

  • Weak Points - Head, Abdomen, Back Legs
  • Resistant Points - Claws, Chest
  • Elemental/Ailment Weakness - Water, Ice, Stun
  • Elemental/Ailment Resistance - Poison, Exhaust
  • Best Weapon Damage - Bludgeoning Damage

Best Equipment To Fight Pyre Rakna-Kadaki

Monster Hunter Rise player character in Elgado holding the Mizutsune Sword and Shield.

Because of its Stun weakness, bludgeoning weapons are best for Pyre Rakna-Kadaki. The main bludgeon weapons are Hammer and Hunting Horn, but Sword and Shield can also stun regularly with shield bashes. Earlier in Master Rank 4 you unlocked Mizutsune weapons. Mizutsune trees have decent Affinity and a lot of Water element damage. Royal Ludroth weapons are also good Water equipment. The Echoing Droth Roar Hunting Horn has Sonic Wave, which will help you take out stray Pyrantulas.

You want your armor to have a high innate Fire resistance. The Anjanath X set is a great pick if you are using a bludgeoning weapon, because it also has Slugger. Anything that increases your capacity to stun is good for Pyre Rakna-Kadaki. Volvidon X armor also has decent Fire resistance. It also has Evade Extender, which is helpful when avoiding Pyre Rakna-Kadaki's large explosion attacks. You can also try pieces from the Barbania set. The head, arm, and waist Barbania pieces all have Weakness Exploit, a great skill that's hard to come by before the late game. Weakness Exploit will activate when striking the head or back legs of Pyre Rakna-Kadaki. If your Fire resistance is still too low for your liking, you can slot in Fire Resistance decorations or eat dango for it.

  • Weapons - Echoing Droth Roar, Sinter Hammer +, Kurenawi Ougi +
  • Armor - Anjanath X, Volvidon X, Barbania

Pyre Rakna-Kadaki - Fight Breakdown And Moves

Monster Hunter Rise gameplay. A giant spider covered in black web throws orange baby spiders at the player, who is holding a bow.

Like the nominate species, Pyre Rakna-Kadaki uses its young to assist it in battle. When it throws out a Pyrantula on a thread, it can send a flame down the thread and cause an explosion at the end. This fuse attack occurs in two patterns - one with the Pyrantulas line up in a row, and one where they're in a circle with Rakna-Kadaki in the center. These attacks have a long windup, so they are not hard to dodge. Don't try to get close to the threads, though, because the flames have a decent hitbox when they travel down the fuse.

Once you do enough damage, Pyre Rakna-Kadaki's silk coat will unravel and its abdomen will become huge. It'll use its abdomen as a weapon in this state. Typically, it will pick it up and slam it three times in a row. Don't try to attack the monster when it's spinning a new coat. Touching it will make you Webbed. When Pyre Rakna-Kadaki is enraged, it will use Pyrantulas to attack more often. Slay the Pyrantulas when you can. The fewer of them there are, the smaller area Rakna-Kadaki can cover with its fuse attacks.

Bring Cleanser to the fight to remove any Webbed statuses. If you get Webbed, Pyre Rakna-Kadaki will target you with a strong attack, so get rid of the threads immediately. Pyre Rakna-Kadaki can also afflict Blastblight. You can remove Blastblight with a Deodorant, but it is easier just to Wiredash once to clear the status.
