Monster Hunter Stories 2 sees you thrown into the chaotic mess that has seen Rathalos disappear from around the world, players have to venture out and discover the cause of the mass extermination. Throughout the journey, you'll come up against some of the toughest challenges in the Monster Hunter universe. Luckily, you get a long list of items and characters to help you out along the way, boosting your abilities and making the whole experience less of a grind.
Help doesn't come easy, having to take on rogue beasts and discover hidden dens to build up your inventory. One of the most helpful items in the game, charms, cover every stat boost and let you choose when to use them. However, all charms aren't created equally, and knowing the most effective option is the key to a great hunting experience.
8 Adamant Charm
Reducing the damage you take in battle, the Adamant charm is one of the most practical items in the game. Decreasing the damage taken during a fight will add up to make a big difference in stressful battles.
Coming up against a Pink Rathian or Black Diablo when you're not expecting it can pose a serious problem, and this is where the Adamant Charm cushions the blow. The higher the enemy's level, the greater the difference, relieving some of the pressure and giving you time to put together a counterattack.
7 Buying Charm

Getting reduced prices at every vendor or merchant opens up more opportunities to buy weapons and armor earlier in the game. Buying charms will reduce the price of all wares, making the upgrade process much faster.
The more you upgrade the prayer pot, the bigger difference you'll see in the charm's effect, adding up to more Zenny in your wallet. This charm has the added benefit of being easy to use in the 30-minute time limit, allowing you to go to the store and get everything you want in a fraction of the time.
6 Finding Charm

This charm will increase the chance of finding a monster egg with rare genes, a crucial factor in deciding how powerful your monstie grows. Every monstie comes with nine gene slots that boost stats, passive abilities, and skills. Rare monsties have more vacant options that can be customized with abilities.
Rare genes will set the foundation for how high your power ceiling is. Upgrades will come effortlessly, with the empty slots allowing you to line up potent bonuses. While the genes are a random gamble, these monsties will also have better base stats and set the stage for the best ally possible.
5 Gathering Charm

Improving your chances of coming across rare items, the Gathering charm is very useful for those who like to grind for their goals. To gather items you'll have to know the different spots in every village or island. Items range from very common to rare and this charm will stop you from wandering around for hours to find that special gem.
You can also gather items inside Monster dens, some think the scale of the items rises with the dens rarity. If you find yourself gathering in the Bloodbath Diablos or Kirin's den, it won't take long before you find the item you've been looking for.
4 Might Charm
The most evident charm of them all, increasing the damage you deal in battle. It's not hard to explain why this is one of the best charms in the game as everyone would like to deal out more damage in each battle. As you approach the late story, this will become more and more important, facing some of the most damage-resistant monsters in the game.
While most of the game is a steady progression, some boss moments put your skills to the test and up the action, pushing your combat capabilities. In the hardest moments, a boost to your attack power will be a great relief and turn the tables in a back and forth fight.
3 Selling Charm
An underutilized mechanic that can net you a lot of Zenny if used correctly, selling all your useless items back to the merchants can net you big profits. Thsi process is even more effective when you're using the selling charm, increasing the profits and giving you access to even better items that you'll put to use.
Trade-in items, such as the Protovisor, are only used to sell back to the vendor. The game makes it easier by giving you a sell-all button for these items, cutting out the middle man. Don't let all that untapped profit sit in your inventory, sell it back and buy their best items.
2 Recovery Charm

Many factors affect your monsties recovery every turn, from genes to this charm, a recovery build relies heavily on this stat. The recovery charm will increase the amount of HP it recovers every turn, supercharging the heal and making you much harder to take out.
This charm combined with a solid defense is near impossible to get through, healing the small amount of damage that gets through in the next turn. It's not the locked and stocked offensive that most players move towards but it's one of the most reliable builds for your monstie on the market.
1 Training Charm

The training charm doesn't offer the combat advantages the other charms do but it saves a lot of time grinding up to a high level. When you've been fighting through a long line of small enemies, the training charm will make sure you maximize the reward for every battle, making the drawn-out experience worth the effort.
Given that it's a percentage increase based on your prayer pot level, the boss fights and unexpected challenges give you the most benefit. Taking down a White Monoblos is a challenging task for any player but the training charm ensures you milk every drop of experience out of the battle.
