The main storyline of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is quite long, perhaps around 30 hours or so. It's a meaty game with a lot of content and you can really fall in love with it; luckily, there is a packed post-game full of new challenges and experiences.

RELATED: JRPGs to Play If You Like Monster Hunter Stories 2It can be slightly overwhelming at first, with all this new stuff unlocked all at once. Thankfully, there's no need to do any of it in order and you can just dive into the bits that interest you. For those who desire some direction, however, here are a few starting points.

9 High Rank Is Here

Just like in the main series, High Rank appears once you get far enough into the story. This comes with much harder challenges and stronger monsters to beat, so be aware of that. This won't affect most of the overworld monsters, so don't worry about being thrust into an overly difficult environment.

High Rank Monster Dens will start appearing now, with all the challenge that implies. The monsters inside hit harder and have higher HP, but the dens themselves tend to have far better eggs inside with a higher chance of having better genetics. Get exploring!

8 Check Out That Quest Board

Along with High Rank Monster Dens come High Rank quests! Many quests are unlocked in the post-game that involve slaying very tough beasties and collecting new materials that are suddenly available. You must simply have missed them on your first go-around.

Of note are the Weapon Spheres and Armor Spheres that are now required for forging High Rank equipment. These are mined from the crystalline mining points and should be a priority for the early post-game as you'll want to upgrade your equipment ASAP.

7 Complete The Clerk's Letter Quest

You can begin this questline by talking to the Scrivener outside your house in Mahana Village. It's a long series of quests that will introduce you to a whole host of new Deviant monsters and Elder Dragons, basically serving as a boss gauntlet of cool new challenges. They are important to complete, as they unlock the ninth rank quests.

The quests are quite simple, though one will leave you wondering where to go next. Just remember that one of the quests is given to you by Yoomlana (the leader of Nua Te Village) and you'll be fine. If you want more information about these quests, there is a handy guide right here.

6 Find Tsukino

Kyle's partner wasn't very convincing in her disguises across the main storyline, to players at least. Visiting the villages of Rutoh and Kuan while you have Kyle as your Battle Buddy will let you talk to Tsukino about her disguises. She will challenge you to find her in these two locations, seven times in all.

This is a sidequest available in the main game, but if you missed it the first time you can complete it right here. The reward for finding Tsukino in all seven of her hiding spots is a cool new costume for Navirou.

5 New Monsters

What would a monster-collecting game be without having new monsters to collect in the post-game? There are a few notable additions (such as the iconic Deviljho) once the final boss is defeated that you can either find out in the overworld or in egg-form in the new High Rank Monster Dens.

You may also wish to head to Guardian Ratha Forest again to fight the monsters you may have missed during the story's climax, such as Sand Barioth and Stygian Zinogre. They are easily skipped and make for fantastic monsties to train up to help you take on the challenges of the post-game.

4 Super Rare Dens

If you are wondering where to find those super rare Deviants and Elder Dragons fought during the Clerk's Letter questline, this is where you'll end up. Super Rare Monster Dens are self-descriptive – they are rare, but they contain the best monstie eggs that you could desire.

The best way to find these would be to head to a Catavan and keep fast-traveling to the same one, changing the time of day from Afternoon to Night and vice versa. This will reset the area quickly, giving you a chance to spawn one of these amazing places.

3 Keep Collecting Those Bottlecaps

Now is probably the best time to start properly training up your dream time, and for that, you'll need Stimulants and Nutriments. Bottle Caps have never been more precious. Head into those Everdens and keep collecting them to get all those great new items at Melynx Inc.

Two very important purchases appear only in the post-game. They are Stable Blueprint 6 (which allows you to have up to 200 monsties at the Stable) and the Gold Expedition Ticket (which allows you to have six expeditions on the go at once.

2 Take On The Hardest Challenge

If you're feeling tough then it may be time to take on the Elder's Lair. This is accessed by traveling to the location of the final boss (the Forbidden Ground Altar) after talking to Chief Gara of Mahana Village.

The Elder's Lair challenge is a grueling gauntlet of tough monster fights that lasts for many levels and ends with a climactic boss battle. It's a great place to level up and test out your battle strategies. There's no way to know if you're ready for it other than to take it on and see how far you get.
