Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is set to hit PC next week and Capcom is ready to talk about future updates. As with the base game, World, Iceborne on consoles has received periodic updates each month that add some new quests and monsters (along with gear to collect). In trying to keep parity with the console version, the PC port has a similar staggered release for additional content.

One of the biggest additions was the introduction of Rajang, a giant ape monster that can go toe-to-toe with the fearsome Deviljho. He was the first update for consoles and the same is true for PC. While not giving a specific date, Rajang will be added in February along with the Resident Evil 2 crossover event. The latter saw players inhabiting the roles of Leon and Claire as they fought off zombies. Themed gear was available after completion of the event.

The second update planned is for some time in early March, though Capcom isn't being specific with which monsters will come. Seeing as how Stygian Zinorge and Safi'jiiva were added to the console versions after Rajang, those two seem likely for the nebulous March window.

It may seem kind of odd to delay updates for the PC port since they are already finished, but Capcom has promised that everything will come faster to the PC version than last go around. When World hit PC, it basically followed the same update schedule as consoles and saw new monsters added almost a full year after they had been available for PS4 and Xbox One players.

That may be good from a strategy perspective, but it did have the side effect of ruining some of the surprise for new players. With cross-play not a feature, it's not like PC players could even catch up with their console counterparts. Maybe that will be one of the new updates considering Iceborne is the final major update for World...

Interestingly enough, Capcom has not revealed what will be hitting Iceborne in 2020 for console players. The first few months were given a roadmap, but nothing has been planned for the coming months. Maybe that cross-play suggestion really is in the works.
