Fans of Monster Hunter:World have many reasons to celebrate over these past first days, as the game is confirmed to have shipped the most units in Capcom's history.

In discussing the major points of its fiscal year-end report, Capcom stated that over 12 million units shipped worldwide and that it was a record for the company. While this is not to be confused with copies that have been confirmed as sold to customers, the overall point is that the game has been a resounding commercial success to the business, and a critical success to the fan base.

Such reception and financial figures have the dual effect of encouraging the company to continue with the ongoing development of new content, and pleasing fans as a result. In today's State of Play stream presented by Sony, the long-awaited release date of September 6 and footage was shown for Iceborne, the first major expansion for the game. This should help in both drumming up additional sales of the base game and push pre-orders for the new content.

This is great news for everyone involved, and shows the importance of developers creating a quality product that respect its fans. In addition to discussing Monster Hunter: World, we also know that Capcom considered Resident Evil 2 to have exceeded expectations in terms of sales, as did Devil May Cry 5, especially when looking at sale figures outside of Japan. Both of those games offer a polished product that fans were eager to play and happy to see treated well.

Once again, a well-made game that is in turn bought by a satisfied customer leads to more of the same. Although only a rumor at this point, speculation is high that because Resident Evil 2 sold beyond expectations, development is already in the early stages for a Resident Evil 3 remake as well. This is based upon the teasers that appeared on Capcom's Facebook and Twitter feed, the first showing Jill Valentine and the second highlight a location from Resident Evil 2. Fans of the series will recall that Jill navigates that area in the early parts of the third game, and it is one of the first spot where she fights, or runs away from, the Nemesis creature.

For now, fans are simply happy to see their favorite franchises thriving and being further developed with more content for them to experience.
