Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX offers hours of fun as it comprises the first two games in the series, both of which were originally launched for the PlayStation in the late '90s. Each game has you generating and training monsters so that you can work your way to the top of the tournament leaderboards.
Before you can generate certain monsters at the Shrine, you'll first need to unlock them. Mock is one of the rarer monsters you'll need to unlock before you can get it in Monster Rancher 2, here's how to do it.
How To Get The Mysterious Seeds
To unlock Mock, you'll first need to get the Mysterious Seeds. This is easier said than done as you have to fulfill certain requirements and then it is purely random whether you'll get the event or not.
First of all, you need to reach the 4th Grade Trainer Rank and then you need to start visiting Auntie Verde's shop on any non-sale week. Keep visiting each week until you trigger the special random event where Auntie Verde will offer you some Mysterious Seeds from the Parepare region.
It can take a long time to successfully trigger this event. We recommended visiting the item shop each week before selecting whichever task your monster will perform to progress into the next week.
How To Unlock Mock
Once you have the seeds and return your ranch, Colt will plant them. Over the next ten years, you'll periodically get small cutscenes about the tree and its growth, and even some strange comments from Colt about the tree seemingly moving to another location.
Eventually, the tree will bloom and then wither away. Colt will ask if you should water it and you should select 'Yes'.
After this point, you're simply waiting for one of your monsters to die. Once you get the cutscene where your monster has passed away and you have chosen whether to hold a funeral or not, you'll get an additional cutscene where a walking tree is in your stables! That's right — it's Mock!
Master Pabs will tell you that it is a Mock and he will give you the option to raise it or give it to IMa to raise. In truth, there is no option. If you opt for IMa to raise it, Master Pabs will tell you to raise it yourself. Colt will name it and you have officially unlocked Mock as a monster type! Mocks don't have the greatest of stats to begin with, but they have longer lifespans than many other monster types.
