At the start of Moonglow Bay, the town you live in is a bit broken down, with trash and abandoned buildings everywhere. Over the course of the game, you will have the opportunity to clean up the bay, invest in buildings, and provide meals to the community.

In order to clean up the bay, you will need to fish trash out of the water. This can be a bit confusing at first, with no in-game tutorial explaining how to do so. In this guide, we are going to go over how to fish up trash from the water. First, let's take a look at some requirements you need to complete beforehand.

Unlocking The Net

Prior to collecting trash from the water, you will need to unlock the net. This is an item used in place of a fishing rod to catch fish and other debris.

The net will be given to you early in the game as part of the story quests. Your first task with a net will be to catch sand fleas that are on the beach, which can then be turned into low-grade bait.

After completing this small task, you will be given a side quest by Claire to clean up five pieces of trash from the bay. The quest description is a bit vague in terms of where you need to remove the trash but fortunately, any trash in the water around Moonglow Bay will count.

Finding Trash In The Bay

Trash can be found floating in the water of the bay. The trash will appear to be partially submerged, but it will bob up and down in the water, with some parts occasionally appearing above the surface. These items will move around and drift through the water, making them easy to spot. Overall, trash appears very different from fish and the dark spots that occasionally appear underwater.

When you find some trash, pull your boat alongside the trash as you would with fish, and get your net out.

Using Your Net

Once you are near the trash, equip your net and throw it. To do this, you will need to line up the net's projected path with the trash and then cast it out similar to how you would do with a fishing rod. The longer you hold the casting button, the farther out the net will go.

If you have lined up the net correctly, it should land on the trash. Now, all you have to do is reel it in. If you overshot the net and it's above the trash, don't worry! As you reel the net in, you can change the direction that you drag it in. Simply drag the net over the trash, and it should be caught.

Continue to drag the trash in until it reaches your boat.

As the trash is brought aboard, you will be able to see exactly what it is. In our case for this guide, we managed to catch a piece of driftwood. You can keep the trash you collected and sell it for a bit of money. It's not the best profit, but the main reason you will do this is to clean up the bay and complete the quest for Claire.

That's all there is to know about catching trash with your net. In addition to gathering trash, don't forget to use your net in new areas so you can catch large amounts of fish at the same time!
