Mileena is back, baby. Mortal Kombat 1 was officially unveiled yesterday, and surprisingly enough, it confirmed that everyone's favourite Outworld baddie will be in the game from launch, rather than be added down the line as DLC. Better yet, her design is great.

However, every dedicated Mileena stan knows that there's more than meets the eye - her best feature is beneath the mask. And thankfully, us freaks in the fanbase weren't disappointed, as the trailer also showed that Mileena yet again has no lips - just a bunch of horrific, deadly sharpened teeth. All the better for brutalising her enemies.

With Mortal Kombat 1 restarting the timeline once again and bringing the series to the next console generation, all of the character designs are open to pretty big changes. And on the face of it, Kitana and Mileena have undergone some redesigns too, looking pretty different to their Mortal Kombat 11 appearances. This had some of us worried that Mileena's teeth would see another redesign, bringing back the lips she was given in Mortal Kombat X.

Thankfully, we weirdos can rest easy. NetherRealm has decided to stick with her MK11 teeth, in all of their grotesque glory.

Jokes aside, it doesn't just come down to the fanged, lipless Mileena looking cool and deadly as hell. As others have pointed out, it's pretty important to her character that her mouth is as Tarkatan as possible, as her entire life is defined by being an "imperfect" clone of Kitana. But don't listen to the haters, Mileena, you're perfect to us.

Better yet, this opens us up the possibility of some pretty gnarly fatalities. I mean, that's a lot of teeth to play around with. I'm sure the devs have come up with something suitable traumatising, as they did with MK11's finishing moves. I don't think the series has shown as many vital organs before.

We'll have to wait until September 19 to see what NetherRealm has cooked up for this fan-favourite villainess. It's not totally clear how she'll fit into the story, but we can already see that she's as violent as ever, so it doesn't seem that the new timeline will change her too much.
