Sheeva’s Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath trailer is about as brutal as you’d expect it to be.

Sheeva is coming in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, the new expansion to the latest iteration of the Mortal Kombat franchise. She’ll be joined by Fujin and RoboCop on the side of good as Shang Tsung tries to correct the timeline by figuring out how to use Kronika’s Hourglass.

As one would expect, Sheeva’s trailer is a brutal display of Shokan ferocity as befitting that race’s queen. We get to see Sheeva jump stomp, ground pound, and fireball opponents while also grabbing with her many arms and kicking their heads so they perform several backflips--a uniquely Shokan talent.

We also get a bit of Sheeva’s backstory. After serving faithfully as Sindel’s protector at the behest of Shao Khan, Sheeva succeeded King Gorbak (Goro’s father) to become the ruling monarch of her race. When Shang Tsung appears from the future to convince her to join his quest to save all of time itself, he tells of her Sindel’s resurrection and likely plays on her guilt in order to sway her decision.

Which is a good thing, since Sheeva looks to be a true powerhouse that will really shake up the Mortal Kombat 11 meta.

In addition to all the new characters, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will bring with it several new stages, a brand new story-based campaign, something that has been missing from Mortal Kombat for a long time: Friendships. All characters will receive new Friendship finishers that turn the usual gruesome end to an MK match on its head. Instead, characters will perform ridiculous actions that attempt to spark camaraderie with their combatants.

In fact, Kitana's Friendship will feature her half-sister Mileena as they patty-cake it out. Sadly, Mileena won't be a playable character, but if the model exists, it seems like a slam dunk that she'll be added in future expansions.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath arrives May 26 with pre-orders available now.
