With Mileena landing in Mortal Kombat 11 in a few weeks (November 17, to be precise), NetherRealm Studios has finally uploaded a trailer that shows off her revamped moveset and it's just what you'd expect. Mileena is brutal, gory, and a little bit creepy. That year and a half of waiting looks like it will definitely be worth it for fans of her eccentric style.

I'm not exactly a Mileena expert, but the character certainly retains a lot of her past moves her. She had a ton of teleport options in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, for instance, and those are all present and accounted for. Despite Kitana's MK11 incarnation using Mileena's sai weapon, Mileena does have both of them in her projectile moves.

About the only real downer here is her fatality. I'm not exactly sure what NetherRealm is going for with this one. I do know that Mileena had a cannonball move that was similar to Blanka's from Street Fighter 2, but...yeah, this is one of the worst fatalities in the game.

Despite having played and watched a ton of Mortal Kombat 11, I'm still really in awe of its graphical presentation. The game isn't exactly "realistic," but it has a level of polish that is rarely seen in fighting games. Sadly, NetherRealm Studios doesn't have the best track record when it comes to treating its employees well, so I can't give it praise for that.

Then there's the way that DLC has been handled for the game since release. It's nice to have a constant trickle of updates every few months, but making early adopters pay an additional $100 on top of the $60 original is absurd. What's worse is that if you waited for Aftermath or Ultimate, you'd get the entirety of MK11's content for the same price. I understand that's how business works -obviously repackage versions will cost less-, but it's just kind of tacky.

Ultimately, that is up to you to decide if you want to be angry or not. At least Mortal Kombat 11 continues to be well optimized and next-gen players aren't getting left behind. Mileena will release alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions on November 17, 2020. You can nab everything in one bundle for $60 or get Kombat Pack II for $20.
