Mortal Kombat is one of the most beloved franchises in gaming. Each new game that's released is met with the same fan fervor and enthusiasm. Controversies aside arising from the insane work hours from the development team and grindy nature of the game, it has continued Netherrealm Studios' string of successes.

While the game's roster has a good mix of fresh faces and classic fighters, there are some from Mortal Kombat X that didn't make the cut. Let's take a look.

10 Alien

The beloved Xenomorph burst onto the Mortal Kombat scene on March 1, 2016. The infamous creation of H. R. Geiger became available on the PS Marketplace a DLC character.  Alien was also included in Mortal Kombat XL. The backstory for this character states that Xenomorphs had visited Outworld long ago but the dormant eggs they had left behind were just recently discovered. for roughly $5 players could enjoy calling in air strikes of drone alines, vicious tail attacks and a fighting style described as Greco-Roman.

In order for a DLC character to be added to MK11, they would have to be added to the main roster. Unfortunately, that won't be happening for this iconic space monster.

9 Predator

Predator is a beloved Sci-Fi character that adds to any franchise. Fans loved having the chance to play as the intergalactic hunter. The character was powerful and brought a breath of fresh air to the game.

Predator possesses superhuman strength and resilience. His physical traits are enough to make him a formidable opponent but he also has some incredible weapons at his disposal. This made him incredibly fun to play and explore but he most likely won't be making a return in Mortal Kombat 11.

8 Leatherface

This iconic horror character brings a feral quality to the game with his soiled clothes and human flesh mask. Leatherface is a human being who doesn't possess any supernatural powers or have access to any advanced technology. What he lacks in style he makes up for with animalistic brutality and incredible strength.

The infamous chainsaw killer swings his enormous weapon around as if it weighed next to nothing. He's as dexterous with his unwieldy saw as many are with daggers. Because Leatherface was a DLC character he won't be returning.

7 Jason

Jason Voorhees is another icon of horror films who made his way to the game through DLC. After his return from the dead to avenge himself and his mother he honed his killing skills with deadly accuracy.

Jason is physically intimidating. He's one of the tallest characters in the game topped only by Predator, Goro, and Tremor. Because he's undead he's nearly indestructible. He's a powerful opponent who deals devastating blows with his machete and hands. He has several impenetrable buffs that only skilled players can circumvent.

6 Ferra & Torr

This character was a visual treasure that many fans feel was a wasted opportunity. This character, or characters, held a lot of untapped potential. Mortal Kombat X provided no plot significance or back story for Ferra & Torr.

Kotal Kahn's pair of minions is a cool concept that just didn't get the attention it deserved. Unfortunately, players probably won't get the pleasure of watching Torr hurl tiny Ferra at their opponents in MK11.

5 Quan Chi

We know that once a character dies they usually don't return to the roster in the following game. Quan Chi was one of the main antagonists in Mortal Kombat X. The powerful sorcerer had to be taken out and his longtime enemy Scorpion was just the man for the job.

Quan Chi is dead and he isn't coming back any time soon. Could this mean than Shang Tsung will be filling a larger role? Fans have been missing the other half of the Deadly Alliance. Now may be an excellent time to put him back in the spotlight.

4 Shinnok

We don't see Shinnok making very long. He was in rough shape when we last saw him. Even if he weren't missing 80% of his body, his story has been told. There's nowhere else for this character to go.

He could potentially hire henchmen to push his disembodied head around in a cart but his storyline wouldn't be sufficient to make up for his lack of a body. This fascinating character will surely be missed by his fans but there's no way to justify keeping his severed head around.

3 Reptile

Reptile has been a fan favorite since he appeared in the first game as a hidden enemy as a fusion of Scorpion and Sub-Zero. When we last saw Reptile in MKX he was fleeing from the Special Forces.

It's unlikely that Reptile met his fate along the way but it looks like he won't make an appearance in Mortal Kombat 11. At first, rumors surface after the MK11 roster was leaked. A screenshot surface that appeared to feature a redesigned Reptile. It turned out to be a hoax and no credible information was released in its place. Mortal Kombat and hoaxes, who would have thought?

2 Triborg

Triborg is what happens when four minds are combined and programmed into a technologically advanced robot body. Yup, Triborg technically has four fighters programmed into him which are Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke and Sub-Zero (since he was once cyberized by the Lin Kuei). The four-person character is obsessed with eliminating all organic life.

In MK 11's story mode, we see both Cyrax and Sektor running about without Triborg in sight. It's more likely that we get one of those characters as DLC than this abomination.

1 Goro

Fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise adore the giant, four-armed prince. Goro has been striking fear into the hearts of his opponents since day one. Goro was a pre-order bonus/ DLC character in MKX but he hasn't returned in MK 11.

He had no part in the story of Mortal Kombat 10 so it would make little sense to reintroduce him as a main character at this point. Fans will simply have to deal without their 500-year-old prince. At least for this game.
