Hot on the heels of the gameplay trailer for the Terminator T-800, the Season of Chaos is now live in Mortal Kombat 11, with new rewards, quests, and skins up for grabs in the fourth season of the Kombat League. While the structure for the season remains the same, players are sure to see big shifts in the meta with the implementation of patch 1.10, and the third variations for each fighter.

Seasonal Challenges

The seasonal challenges are a way to get players into the online Kompetitive format of the game and work their way up the ladder. Fortunately, a player doesn't need to be skilled to earn their share of rewards in each season. Some characters lend themselves to certain tasks better than others. Uppercuts, for example, are hard to land with some fighters due to a short range, while others are far more forgiving, such as Noob Saibot.

Be sure to keep an eye on the seasons challenges so as not to miss out on these easy rewards!

The Season of Chaos challenges and rewards are as follows:

  • Daily Challenge – Complete 5 Kombat League sets a day – Reward: 50 Time Krystals Daily
  • Challenge: Connect 10 Fatal Blows – Reward: Gear, Scorpion, Yomi-no-kuni Edge
  • Challenge: Connect 25 Uppercuts - Reward: Brutality, Jacqui Briggs, Hitting A Wall
  • Challenge: Complete 10 Ranked Daily Challenges - Reward: Gear, Jade, Kuatan Killing Blade
  • Challenge: Complete 15 Kombat League Sets - Reward: Brutality, Sub-Zero, Frost Bite
  • Challenge: Spill 10,000 Pints of Blood - Reward: Gear – Gear, Jax Briggs, Mansa Musa’s Moneymakers
  • Challenge: Complete all Season Challenges - Reward: Skin, Sub-Zero, Breaking Ice

Rank Rewards

As players have come to expect, ranked rewards require a commitment to the grind. As with previous seasons, players receive the top tier rewards for the level they have reached, not for the level they finish at. This means that players should take risks and attempt to advance as far as they can, secure in the knowledge that the reward might be an additional tier of unlockable character with nothing to lose.

  • Apprentice Rank: Unlock a skin for Noob Saibot “Chaotic Evil”, 100,000 Koins, Gear – Scarlet – Mistress of the Dark
  • Kombatant Rank: 500 Soul Fragments, Gear – Kitana, Assassin’s Sister
  • Warrior Rank: 250 Hearts, Gear – Sub-Zero, 1993 Vintage Blade
  • Champion Rank: Unlock a skin for Frost “Time Crisis”, 100 Time Krystals, Gear – Raiden – Liu Kang’s Mentor
  • Master Rank: 200 Time Krystals, Gear –Kung Lao, Favor of Li Mei
  • Grand Master Rank: 300 Time Krystals, Gear – Liu Kang, Hooves of the Dragon Horse
  • Demi-God Rank: Unlock a skin for Cassie Cage “Play Havoc”, 500 Time Krystals, Gear – Erron Black, Bulleteerist

Beware The Third Variations!

The long-awaited third tournament variations are coming with patch 1.10. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players should have the patch already, while PC and Nintendo Switch owners do not. This has occurred before when it comes to patch updates, and in this case should only last until October 8 or so when the Terminator arrives to the game as part of the Kombat Pack 1 early access period.

This means that Season IV is likely going to be the most chaotic, and the season’s name fits perfectly. The third tournament variations will take time to master, and more importantly, players will need to spend some time learning exactly what each new opponent brings to the table. Speculation right now centers around certain characters excelling with their new modes, such as Johnny Cage and Baraka, while others will remain the same or suffer, such as Erron Black.

October 8 and then 15 will mark the two dates in which the Terminator will enter early access, and then be available to other players for individual purchase. Based on the gameplay trailer for the character released on October 1, we may be seeing a new grappler that is anti-zone and difficult to deal with.

Best of luck to all Kombatants who are striving for a new personal best in the Kombat League. Hopefully the incoming changes don't make ranking up too difficult, but one can never tell with the incoming T-800 what kind of a month we're in for.
