Mortal Kombat fans were treated to yet another movie this year, but this one might not be going down as well. Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms was released just two days ago, and serves as a sequel to 2020's Legends: Scorpion's Revenge.

Battle of the Realms currently sits at 74% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this is already a dip from the previous film, which remains at 90%. Fans are also discussing their thoughts on the Mortal Kombat subreddit, and it appears that many are disappointed with the direction of this sequel.

"There was WAY too much going on for its runtime, I would [have] preferred a more grounded story. It’s like they don’t even understand their own characters", says Reddit user SoloCavalier. This appears to be the consensus among Mortal Kombat fans, with CuddlySadist commenting: "Felt like two different movies were playing at the same time while the tournament fights feeling like they should have more build ups and clear deaths instead of feeling too much like montages."

Further still, the only registered review from a critic paints an even worse picture. IGN gave Battle of the Realms 5/10, concluding that: "Despite decent fan service and brutal fights, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms is an overstuffed mess."

If you're curious and want to see what it's like for yourself, Battle of the Realms is out now on Amazon Prime, Google Play, and YouTube Movies.
