With MultiVersus recently moving into the public phase of the beta, interest in the game has never been higher. However, if you aren’t familiar with how most free-to-play games operate, you may be a little confused by the Battle Pass system and how it works.
For starters, you may wonder why there are two of them? And how do you access the goodies they hold? Well, if you have questions, we have answers. This guide will delve into everything you can earn through the Battle Pass, and how to earn all the glistening treasures it holds.
Updated November 29th, 2022 by James Kennedy: With the release of second season of MultiVersus, this page was in desperate need of an update. So, we have changed all the Battle Pass rewards to reflect all the changes. We have also added a section to explain the new booster system. Enjoy!
How Does The Battle Pass System Work?
Okay, so, the first thing you need to know about the Battle Passes in MultiVersus is that there are two paths. One path is free, and the other costs Gleamium. Gleamium can currently only be obtained with real money (either by purchasing it directly from the store, or through purchasing one of the Founder’s Passes). The Season 2 Battle Pass costs a grand total of 950 Gleamium. That means it costs, roughly, about ten dollars.
As for how you rank your Battle Pass up, you will gain points towards your Battle Pass by battling others online. However, you only earn five points for every match you play, and another five points for every match you win. This means that playing matches won't be your primary source of Battle Pass points, but they will absolutely help you inch a little further toward those treasures. The missions will play a much bigger role.
As you play through matches in the game, you will complete challenges. These challenges will earn you points toward your Battle Pass. There are two types of challenges: your daily missions and your seasonal milestones. The daily missions tend to be pretty simple. They can be as easy as blocking a single projectile with Wonder Woman’s shield (that is one challenge we have encountered). If you don’t like a mission, you can reroll one a day for free (which means it will be swapped out for another mission).
The other challenges are more time intensive and will require that you chip away at them over the course of multiple days (if not weeks). We will go into these challenges in greater depth in the “Seasonal Milestones” section below.
One other thing to note about the Battle Passes is that they rank up together. So, if you are on your fifth level in one, you are on the fifth level in the other as well. You can buy the premium Battle Pass at any time and access all those rewards you have earned as long as it hasn’t expired yet. That is, of course, the temptation. And if you were wondering how Warner Bros was going to make money with this free-to-play game, it is probably starting to click for you.
What Is The Rested Bonus?
So, while you don't gain much in the way of points towards ranking up purely by playing matches; you do gain considerably more if you are "rested". The longer you are away from the game, the more your rested bar will build. When you are rested you will see a little insignia in the bottom right corner of the "play" button. The rested bonus indicator takes the form of an "x2". That is because you double all your match points when you are rested. The red bar under the play button is an indication of how much rested XP you have. So that will help you keep track.
Understand The New Boost System
New to this season are the boosts. You can use these to obtain more gold, BP experience, or character experience. When these are active your gains will be tripled. You assign these boosts in the character select screen. At the moment, the only way to obtain boosts is through the Battle Pass.
A small boost will last 3 matches or an hour (whichever comes first), a medium boost is good for 15 matches or two hours, and a large boost is good for 45 matches or 48 hours.
How To Complete All The Seasonal Milestones
The first thing to note is that Seasonal Milestones are NOT universal. This means that it is impossible to give a detailed breakdown of every last mission. Thankfully, we have a pretty good idea of the types of missions you are likely to get, and will happily give you all the information you need to complete said missions.
The Basic Seasonal Milestone
A bunch of these missions are things like "Wall Slide 200 times" or "Hit with 1000 melee attacks." There is very little advice you need in order to complete these challenges. As you play the game, you will naturally obtain all of these. If you really want to speedrun through these challenges, you can fight against bots and just focus solely on wall sliding or whatever seasonal milestone you are looking to accomplish.
Ring Out Specific Milestones
One of the more common milestones calls for you to ring a certain number of enemies out at the top, or at the bottom, of the screen (most of the seasonal seem to call for you to do this 50 times). So, for ringing enemies out at the top of the screen, you are probably going to want to go with Superman, who can toss them out at the top of the screen at pretty low health, or Harley Quinn, who has incredibly potent tools for ringing enemies out at the top of the screen.
For ringing opponents out at the bottom, you will want someone with a strong spike attack. Honestly, we don't think you can do any better than Garnet here, as she has incredibly good aerial spikes. However, Harley also has a fantastic spike game as well, so she is also worth considering here.
One of the most brutal Milestones we have seen floating around calls for you to ring out an opponent at a super low percentage. For a very low percentage KO, we are recommending Superman again. If he uses his up-special attack at the top of the screen, he can get some very, very early kills. However, Stripe also has some pretty cheesy early kills with his pistole special. He is another character worth considering.
Elemental Effect-Based Milestones
The last type of seasonal milestone will call for you to hit your enemies with a specific elemental affliction. With the right characters, these Milestones are an absolute breeze. Use Superman for inflicting the freeze effect, as his Ice Breath super is perfect for freezing enemies. To ignite opponents, you will want to go with Superman again (for his laser eyes) or Iron Giant (who can set half of the stage on fire). Lastly, Garnet is by far, the best choice for inflicting shock. She has a number of attacks that will inflict this status element and some of them hit groups from a distance.
What Is In The Standard Battle Pass?
The standard Battle Pass contains one ringout animation, one variant (alternate costume), five badges, and thirteen profile icons. There is also 1550 gold, and 50 pieces of toast to be gained by completing this Battle Pass. On top of that, the is a small, medium, and large boost for XP, BP, and Gold (for more information, consult the Boosters section of this guide). It isn’t a bad haul, considering it costs you absolutely nothing. The crown jewel is clearly the Tom and Jerry skin, especially if you are a Sherlock fan. We have provided you with a quick reference list down below.

What Is In The Premium Battle Pass?
The premium Battle Pass contains seven ringout animations, three variants (alternate costumes), fifteen banners, eight taunts, and four stickers. There is also a whole lot of toast to be earned (80 pieces). There is also more XP Boosts to be had. You can see what they are doing here, of course. There are more high-value items, such as skins and taunts, with none of the chaff, such as badges or profile icons.
