MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh has just confirmed that Morty will be labelled as an 'expert' in-game, meaning that he'll cost 3,000 coins alongside Rick who was also revealed to be an expert.

Expert is exactly what it sounds like—it's a classification used to indicate that a character requires a higher skill level. Already this can be seen with people like Arya Stark and Steven Universe. And with a higher classification comes a higher cost, with experts being the most expensive characters, so if you want to buy Rick and Morty, you'll have to save up 6,000 of those shiny golden coins.

"For those wondering, Morty is labeled as 'Expert'," Huynh tweeted. Someone asked how they could make "such a basic character so complicated" to which Huynh responded, "I don't know, we just kinda went down this road and couldn't stop."

Rick, Morty, and LeBron James were all confirmed at SDCC 2022 with LeBron James having already been added. Originally, Morty was to be released alongside Season One which would've dropped today but both got delayed so that Player First Games could bring "new and exciting content that delights players." It's unclear how long the delay is.

"We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 & the release of Morty to a later date," Player First Games said. "We'll let you know the timing as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience & enthusiasm and look forward to unveiling Season 1 very soon!"

In the meantime, you can pick up the Founder's Pack to get some character unlock tokens or get grinding to earn those 6,000 coins you'll need for the duo. However you choose to go about getting them, you have plenty of time to prepare for Morty's release and the first season's battle pass which will boast 50 tiers at a price of 950 Gleamium or $10.
