MultiVersus has removed all voice lines that were referencing Gandalf, Eleven from Stranger Things, Craig of the Creek, and Daenerys from Game of Thrones.
Before MultiVersus launched, it was unarguably one of the leakiest games out there. One of the main ways that dataminers were able to see which characters might be coming to the game was through voice lines from already-confirmed fighters, as they could be heard making reference to characters that hadn't been confirmed at the time, including Rick, Morty, The Iron Giant, and more.
There's an incredibly long list of rumoured characters for MultiVersus thanks to this datamining, but it looks like it's just got a little bit shorter as voice lines referencing several characters have been completely removed. Redditor JPMB5555, who previously discovered references to Eleven and several other characters, posted a summary of their most recent datamine on the MultiVersus subreddit.
They said, "Remember how Gandalf’s Finn lines got cut between the TT1 and TT2 files? Well, they cut the rest of his lines, the remainder being from Shagworthy... Along with all voice lines referencing Eleven, Daenerys, Hound, and Craig. I’d call this an absolute bloodbath, yet they’ve cut so much including their own characters at this point that I don’t think these are cut so much as shelved, at least until the characters that aren’t cut get released first."
The most interesting of all of these cuts are the ones made to Gandalf. While Eleven, Daenerys, Hound, and Craig all have very minimal references to them made, Gandalf has actually been a part of MultiVersus' rumoured roster ever since the original design document leaked for it, even having a character model in one of the screenshots. Why he's been pushed back further isn't known, but it's been ongoing for some time.
Thankfully, the datamine wasn't all bad news. JPMB5555 also found that Nubia has seemingly been made her own character now instead of a skin for Wonder Woman, as well as finding out that several characters had their references intact, including Marvin, Raven, Gizmo, Joker, Scooby, Nubia, Static, Poison Ivy, Black Adam, Beetlejuice, and the Wicked Witch of the West.
