It's been confirmed that Rick Sanchez from Rick & Morty will be the next character joining the MultiVersus roster. Rick was announced alongside LeBron James and Morty way back in July, but this is the first confirmation we have that Rick will be next before other previously announced characters such as Stripe and Black Adam.MultiVersus developer Player First Games announced this news via the official MultiVersus Twitter account with a new trailer. It shows Reindog and Wonder Woman in the middle of a brawl before Rick crashes the scene by emerging through a portal. We, unfortunately, didn't get a release date for Rick during the trailer, but MultiVersus director Tony Huynh clarified on his personal Twitter account that he'll be added "very soon."It's possible that Player First is being coy with Rick's release date because of what happened with Gizmo earlier this month. The Mogwai was first announced with a release date of September 6 but was delayed by a couple of days, much to the annoyance of the fanbase. It's likely there's going to be a similar amount of time between Rick's reveal and release as well, so we may only need to wait until next week to play as the smartest man in the universe.
With Rick's upcoming addition, that means the only two confirmed characters we're waiting on now are Black Adam and Stripe, who were both revealed during the start of Season 1, albeit with no release dates. It's possible we may see a new character announced before then though, as the spooky season is just around the corner and Beetlejuice voice lines were recently found in the game's files.
Outside of character additions, it's possible the update that brings Rick to the fight could also finally add the highly-requested Ranked modes fans have been clamoring for. It could also see the addition of the game's store, as an unfinished version was recently found by a dataminer.
