What makes the Persona series so great is its range of character personalities. In Persona 5, we definitely have a ragtag team of misfits but they are not all cut from the same cloth. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. While all of the protagonists are pretty rebellious, they are very different from each other in terms of behavior and how they view the world.

And what is a better way to celebrate their different personalities than to discuss their Myers-Briggs types? We hope you know yours so you can compare yourself to your favorite characters! There are a ton of characters, so we will stick to the ones most central to the story.

9 Joker – ENFP

While Joker is the poster-child of a silent protagonist, he fits an extroverted personality. He is literally the heart of the party in the game. During the story, he goes out and makes a ton of connections.

He’s intuitive, knowing that everything is not exactly what it may seem on the outside. He follows his heart instead of logic, and that’s what made him intervene with Shido and ultimately get into trouble. And of course, he is perceptive, because improvising is basically his superpower.

8 Ryuji – ESFP

Being one of Joker’s closest and first friends, of course Ryuji's Myers-Briggs would be very similar. Like Joker, he is a trickster and a rebel and that almost automatically makes him emotional and perceiving rather than logical and judgmental.

Of course, all of these are on a scale, and Ryuji is probably even deeper in the feeling scale than Joker since he is often more reckless, brash, and quick to speak before thinking about what he is saying. Unlike Joker though, he is sensitive rather than intuitive. He’s not big into critical thinking and takes situations at face value.

7 Ann – ESFJ

Ann is obviously an extrovert and shows it by standing up to others and in having a lot of attention through her modeling job. Like Ryuji, she is more sensitive than intuitive which is why she struggles with finding a personal drive in modeling and instead bases her thoughts on what her co-model thinks.

She is feeling because she makes the most of her decisions from her emotions. Unlike Joker and Ryuji though, she is judgmental because she is a rule-follower before she meets them. It’s Joker and Ryuji that pull her into a world of alternatives and improvisation.

6 Morgana – ENTJ

via: candb.com

Until Joker steals the show, Morgana is the one shouting ideas and orders throughout the game. He is definitely an extrovert since he never stops talking. He is intuitive and knows things are not always as they seem, probably because he’s a talking cat and quickly takes offense to people who find that insane.

While Morgana sometimes acts out on his emotions, he is ultimately thinking. He often tells others to wait and think about their actions before doing anything mindlessly. Lastly, he is judgmental. He’s almost militant when it comes to strategy and likes to follow rules.

5 Yusuke – ISFP

via: candb.com

Finally, an introvert! Yusuke did not have any friends until he met the protagonist since he typically kept to himself. The only thing that made him seek out others was to paint them. He is sensitive because it took concrete evidence to get him to believe his mentor stole his mother’s work despite subtle signs.

Like most of the Phantom Thieves, he makes a lot of decisions based on feelings. The evidence for that is that he’s literally a starving artist. Yusuke also never thinks things through. He plans to move in with Ann without even consulting her and accidentally becomes homeless. So he is definitely perceptive.

4 Makoto – INFJ

According to the 16 Personalities website "People who are INFJ tend to have an intense sense of morality and idealism." If that is not Makoto in a nutshell, we do not know what is.

Like Yusuke, Makoto is a character that keeps to herself. She is the greatest stickler for the rules too, which makes her an unusual member of the Phantom Thieves. She is a strong judgmental character. Like most of the characters though, she is emotional rather than logical. However, she was probably T for Thinking at the beginning of the game, but through Joker’s influence moves more towards following her heart.

3 Futaba – INTP

Futaba is the queen of the introverts. In fact, you go on quests just to get her out of her room. She is also very intuitive when it comes to her mother’s death. She knows that there is more to how her mother died than meets the eye.

Futaba fights against her own feelings, which makes her a thinking personality. She literally asks the Phantom Thieves to steal her heart so she has the freedom do what she wants in her mind. Futaba is also perceiving, often self-teaching and making things up as she goes along.

2 Haru – INFP

This soft-spoken sweetheart with an axe always tries to see the good in others. She definitely fits what’s known as “The Mediator” personality. Haru is the best example of a kind-hearted rebel. She stands up to her father and rejects the desires of others but manages to do it in the most polite way possible.

While she takes risks, she can also easily get embarrassed. It’s a pretty interesting combination in one personality. She aims to follow her heart, even if it follows a path rejected by her powerful family. She is also more of a listener than a speaker.

1 Akechi – ENTP

via: candb.com

ENTP’s are known to be the ultimate devil’s advocate. They love to debate, and boy does Goro Akechi fit that bill well. He is practically your devil’s advocate throughout the entire game. He has a TV personality and a charisma that gets him a lot of fans. He also is a major thinker. After all, he is a detective.

He often puts feelings aside in the name of logic. A part of what makes Akechi so cool is that he does not plan ahead. He is not afraid to improvise, be it on a talk show or in battle.
