Nickelodeon sitcoms usually tend to have stories that are easy to follow and straight to the point. Shows like Drake & Josh just follow the lives of the two stepbrothers after their parents got married and it was a huge success. Brought to you by the same creator, iCarly follows a girl named Carly Shay who would get the most insane but fun opportunities in a modern day. While the show is focused around the web show by the same name, iCarly mostly focuses on the lives of Carly and her friends.

As much as we love watching them interact in every episode, we cannot help but sometimes question the logic that comes into the show. We are filled with so many questions that they either left us disappointed or confused. There are still some mysteries that are to be solved to this day! It can range from the silliest of questions like what to goat did to Carly on her birthday to the whereabouts of the main trio’s missing parents. While we cannot have every question answered, they still boggle our minds and make us wonder what would happen if this and that was implemented on the show.

Even though iCarly is a work of fiction, but since it is based on our own world, there are some inconsistencies that leave us baffled. Regardless of how silly it seems, they are still fun to speculate. Here are some unresolved mysteries and plot holes iCarly has left us fans hanging.

25 It's Just Not Possible, Man

via: nick.com

“iWant a World Record” is one of the episodes from iCarly’s first season and it seemed like a consistent episode, but the subject for this entry is entirely impossible. Appearing in only this episode, Marilyn’s boyfriend Calvin has been going without blinking for a long time. We do not know the specific amount of time, but in reality, it is impossible to not blink for at least an hour. A man in Australia has been recorded to go up to forty minutes without blinking!

But in iCarly, Calvin is heavily implied to not blink for far longer than that.

For a character we never see again, it makes sense, but logically in our world, his eyes would dry up immediately.

24 It Should Be Hot, Right?

via: nick.com

Here comes another episode from the first season! “iHatch Chicks” centers around Carly and Sam hatching chicks for a science project, but when they hatched overnight, they escaped and the iCarly gang has to find them before they starve. Since they were newly born, they had to be in a temperature of ninety degrees.

Now it all seems normal enough, but if the temperature was that hot, then why weren’t Carly, Sam, and Freddie sweating from the heat? At least Spencer was sweating since he was stuck in the heating duct. The three did a lot of running, so it was weird how they did not have any trace of sweat.

23 Weirdest Boyfriend Ever

via: nick.com

One of the first iCarly specials was a holiday episode, but it was Halloween related. In the second season, an episode revolving around Christmas came and it was a trip due to Carly wishing that Spencer was born normal. Due to this, an angel named Mitch granted her wish and she was in a world where Spencer was not a kooky artist that we loved.

Due to that, iCarly never became a web show.

Carly and Sam weren’t friends, Freddie was dating a girl everybody hated, and for some reason, Carly and Nevel were together. It might be just for the show’s humor, but how can Carly have met Nevel if she hadn’t made iCarly? It might not be an oversight, but it was strange.

22 That's A Lot Of Coffee

via: icarly.wikia.com

Spencer is one of the most hilarious characters on the show and older fans can admire him for having some creativity for someone who is supposed to be the adult. So to have him make a sculpture of a coffee cup from their world’s version of Starbucks in "iGot Detention" is interesting and crazy at the same time.

Never mind the fact that the coffee cup is huge and the coffee he got is decaffeinated, what is really concerning is that he, Carly, Sam, and Freddie were having a jacuzzi in coffee! It is very funny, but why would anyone want to bathe in coffee unless they want to be burnt greatly.

21 It Just Magically Appeared

via: nick.com

Lewbert is pretty disgusting as a human being personality and hygiene wise. No wonder why the iCarly gang created a segment called “Messin’ with Lewbert.” In the episode “iHurt Lewbert,” the segment went a bit too far to the point where Lewbert ended up getting injured from the prank Carly and Sam implemented at the front desk.

That was not the only thing that happened.

Lewbert’s infamous wart actually came off and before the paramedics could take him to the hospital, he realized his wart was missing. It somehow ended up on Carly’s shoe with no logically possible way for her to have it land on her shoe. Now that is one confusing scene.

20 We're Going Live?

via: icarly.wikia.com

One of the coolest special guest stars to appear on iCarly is definitely Jimmy Fallon. Formerly an alumni from Saturday Night Live and now late-night talk show host, it was awesome to see such a funny and talented guy like Jimmy be on iCarly. The one hour special “iShock America” was one of the best episodes on iCarly by far.

When Gibby’s pants fell down, it caused controversy for the iCarly gang and Jimmy Fallon. It was a shocking moment, but Jimmy Fallon’s show does not go live in our world, so it was rather eerie. Maybe for the sake of the plot, it had to roll with the show being live, but it was still weird.

19 What A Weird Dream

via: icarly.wikia.com

“iDream of Dance” is a fun episode where the iCarly gang got the inspiration to host a dance contest after watching Ms. Briggs’ Scottish Highland Dancer in class. They watch dance videos and depending on how they agree with, the winner gets to appear on the web show. Later on, the three of them dreamt of being in a dancing scene.

Carly ended up having a dream about the boy she and Sam were attracted to and they danced an incredible routine. When Spencer woke her and the others up, he immediately got on the couch and fell asleep. Ironically, he had the exact same dream as Carly. It is impossible to have the same dream, but it makes for a funny scene.

18 Just Go Along With It

via: icarly.wikia.com

Sam may not look like it, but she actually used to be a pageant girl when she was young. Unfortunately, she would get beat by another pageant girl while she would be in second place. When a guest on iCarly mentioned LeAnne Carter won ninety-nine pageants in a row, Sam was ticked off. She wanted to enter the pageant despite being banned from pushing her down a flight of stairs.

However, she managed to enter the contest again and actually win.

So how could she even win after being away from pageants for so long? Certainly not bribing the judges with fried chicken, that’s for sure. Other than the talent show, Sam did not really stand out in the other categories.

17 A Fun Loving Principal Or Two Harsh Teachers?

via: icarly.wikia.com

Principal Franklin is one of the most likable adults on the show, considering he is strict and takes his job seriously. When he asked Carly and Sam to appear on the web show to surprise his daughter in the episode "iHave My Principals," it got him fired despite not having anything to do with his work. When he was gone, Ms. Briggs and Mr. Howard got the permission of Superintendent Gorman to change some policies, such as having the students wear uniforms.

It is messed up how those two did not end up getting fired for being cruel to the students. Realistically, they would be banned from school property. At least Principal Franklin came back in the end.

16 They Just Left Without A Trace

via: nick.com

Sometimes there are just some characters we really like even though they do not really contribute to the plot of the show. Carly, Sam, and Freddie have other friends and they have great personalities and are really likable. Wendy, for example, has a nice approach that makes us feel comfortable around her. She appeared in a few episodes, but there are some friends that only appear in one.

For example, Shane from “iSaw Him First” and Brad from “iOMG” are interesting and could have easily been in more episodes. The former does end up in the hospital, but Brad looked like he was going to have a bigger role, but sadly, we were wrong. Friends do come and go, but it does feel somewhat sad.

15 He Has A Fire In Him

via: youtube.com

There is just something about Spencer that makes us admire him. He is not like any adult and he manages to be a goofy, but a responsible one. He might have dropped out of law school after three days, but his talent in art is nothing to sneeze at. He also has another talent.

He can catch stuff on fire without effort.

He played the drums and it caught fire, he tapped on the desk bell and it set ablaze. He even started a fire in the shower! Clearly, he is a firebender. Jokes aside, while it doesn’t make sense, it is a funny running gag.

14 How Did She Check Herself In?

via: icarly.wikia.com

One of the pivotal moments on iCarly is the blooming relationship between Sam and Freddie. Even though the former has shown hatred for Freddie, that does not mean she downright hates him completely. She eventually grew feelings for him, as seen in “iOMG.” When she kissed him the second time after so many seasons earlier, we were not expecting the next episode at all.

Sam managed to check herself in a mental hospital.

She was clearly not eighteen and her mother was away, so it weird how she was able to take care of that. Maybe if had certain thoughts and called 911, it would make sense, but if her mother didn’t help out, then Sam would not have been able to be in.

13 Are They Doppelgangers?

via: victoriajustice.wikia.com

Guest stars are one of the fun parts in any episode on iCarly. We would be able to recognize them if we have seen them from another TV show, movie, or be in a music group. One example is Victoria Justice, who actually appeared twice. She first appeared as Shelby Marx, a famous CFC champion with a temper.

When Dan Schneider’s other show Victorious started airing, Victoria would play Tori Vega, a girl who goes to Hollywood Arts. So, when the special “iParty with Victorious” arrived, it would be strange to have Victoria portray two characters but look alike. Freddie mentioned it in the episode, but doppelgangers are very common since another actor from Victorious also appeared on iCarly.

12 Just Hire Them Both

via: icarly.wikia.com

“iHire An Idiot” is a cute episode at best. The iCarly gang was just getting a bit exhausted from having to do a lot of work to keep the show running, so they decided to hire an intern. They eventually found one named Cort, but he was… kind of dumb. Sam and Carly let him stay because he’s so handsome that taking off his shirt was the reason to keep him on board.

So Freddie decided to hire another intern named Ashley, who also was dumb, but actually faked it for her sociology thesis. One of them had to leave, and even though Ashley was there for her project, wouldn’t it make more sense to hire them both to get the work done faster?

11 Quite A Headache

via: icarly.wikia.com

Cameos are a joy to have on any TV show, especially iCarly. The episode “iStart a Fanwar” was a big treat to those who watched previous Dan Schneider shows like Drake & Josh and Zoey 101. The former show had Craig and Erik, two nerds from Drake and Josh’s school and Gavin, Josh’s coworker from the Premiere. Zoey 101 had Stacey Dillsen, a weird girl who has an affinity for cotton swabs.

There was something that happened in iCarly that makes us scratch our heads. Apparently, Drake & Josh is a show in the iCarly universe, but the characters actually appear as themselves. So does that mean the show is based on a true story? So many questions, so many headaches.

10 Is It That Necessary?

via: icarly.wikia.com

Spencer’s a caring brother that he would give anything to Carly just as long as he either has enough money or the tools to create an art project. When her birthday was around the corner, Spencer decided to make her a gummy bear lamp, but it caught fire and burned her entire room. In the fire, there was an antique watch with a diamond-encrusted bezel from Carly and Spencer’s great-grandmother that could be invested for eighty-two thousand dollars.

Spencer decided to use all of the money to recreate Carly’s room.

Sounds great, right? Well, Spencer and Carly live in a rented apartment, so the idea of paying for a room Carly will stay in for a few years sounds like a waste of time.

9 It's Still A Kiss

via: icarly.wikia.com

Remember the time that Sam and Freddie shared their first kiss? That one special moment where Seddie shippers went absolutely crazy for? It was definitely a first kiss for Sam, but Freddie?

It was actually not his first kiss even if he states it himself.

“iWill Date Freddie” has Freddie form a relationship with a girl named Valerie after having a nice date with her in Carly’s apartment. At school, she actually gave him a kiss on the lips. So, to say that Freddie never had his first kiss is a downright false fact. Valerie was a horrible person who manipulated Freddie, so that could be the reason why she doesn’t count as his first kiss.

8 Sings Or Idol?

via: nick.com

Since iCarly is based on the world we live in, there are some differences to help make the show completely different. For example, they have places like the Pear Store, which is their version of the Apple Store. Then there is B.F. Wang’s, which is a parody of P.F. Chang’s.

Strangely enough, American Idol was mentioned when Carly and Freddie got stuck in Ms. Briggs’ closet filled with Randy Jackson memorabilia. But then in the second season, the iCarly gang watched America Sings, which is, obviously, their version of American Idol. It is possible that the show could have changed its name, but it still is peculiar in how a real-life show is mentioned, only to be replaced by a fictional one.

7 Having A Different Opinion Is Bad?

via: icarly.wikia.com

The episode “iMeet Fred” is an interesting yet somewhat troubling episode. It is cool to have former YouTube sensation Fred Figglehorn make an appearance and have the iCarly gang be in a segment with them. At the beginning of the episode though, Freddie was not keen on the idea of Fred. He claimed that he doesn’t think that Fred is funny, and ever since that happened, everyone except for Carly and Sam was cold towards him.

While Lucas, the creator of Fred, used that opportunity to give them both publicity, people that were salty about Freddie not liking something made it feel like having a different opinion is bad. The message can be interpreted the wrong way and it is very scary.

6 How Is This Possible?

via: icarly.wikia.com

You ever watch an episode of a show and it was so surreal that there’s no way that it can ever happen in that universe? iCarly takes the cake with the episode “iApril Fools.” It starts off normally with Carly and Spencer having to leave their apartment due to a misunderstanding. As soon as Sam and Freddie show up, they reminisce the good times.

And that is where things get weird.

Ranging from T-Bo being a genie to a character cameo from Victorious, there was a lot of insanity in this episode. Is it canon to the plot or just fan service filled with fun humor? It would be too crazy for it to actually happen.
