2K has partnered with Kevin Durant and his company, Thirty Five Ventures, to bring the Brooklyn Nets' small forward to the small screen. The game is currently down for maintenance, and Season 3 will kick off when the scheduled downtime is complete.

Durant will be the icon athlete for NBA 2K Mobile during Season 3, which is available for free on both iOS and Android. 2K and Thirty Five Ventures have entered into a "long-term partnership," where the two will collaborate on "future game development, exclusive content, in-game merch, and more." Durant's charitable organization, the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation, is also working with 2K's charity, 2K Foundations, to inspire underprivileged youth and work on future programming.

"I've been a fan of and worked with NBA 2K for years, so I'm thrilled to be the icon athlete of the NBA 2K Mobile app for Season 3," said Kevin Durant. "In addition to representing the mobile experience, I'm honored to be working in partnership with 2K on the franchise and contributing to the development of the game and the 2K experience outside of the game."

Season 3 is bringing plenty of new content to the popular mobile game. Here's what you can expect to see:

  • Updated UI: This includes quality-of-life improvements and new card designs.
  • King of the Court Event: A multi-day tournament for solo players – challenge seven opponents in a single elimination bracket, earning rewards for competing.
  • New Card Themes: Bi-weekly card themes will be available starting today, which include Historic Greats, Seasonal, Holiday, and other high-tiered themes.
  • Additional Content: A new soundtrack, MyPlayer equipment, jerseys, courts, and player ratings.

NBA 2K Mobile went down at 12pm ET for Season 3 maintenance, and is expected to be back up later today. 2K is sending out periodic updates over on Twitter, so we'd recommend checking there for a go-live message.

You can download the game for free on both iOS and Android devices. For more information, visit the official NBA 2K Mobile website.
