Players looking to fully customize their experience in MyCareer and their MyPlayer creations in NBA 2K20 should take a look at the Jumpshot Creator, which lets you mix and match from the approximately 300 unique basic jumpshot animations. Combining these with the signature jumpshot animations of legendary and current NBA players allows you to find something that best fits your playstyle and make you a more competitive player.

Unlocking the creator is simple but not obvious, meaning that players might skip over it entirely without ever being aware of its options. To begin, go to the Team Practice Facility in the Neighborhood. Start doing training drills inside of the facility. After no more than ten drills you will have access to the Jumpshot Creator menu, though some players report that it takes as little as five drills, there does not seem to be a standard amount. You will now have access to the menu by entering the MyPlayer Appearance menu.

Once inside the Jumpshot Creator, there are a number of options to choose from. There are default options, and also ones that can be purchased. Players of previous games in the series might notice that NBA 2K20 is missing the option to tinker with the Jumpshot Speed. This is one aspect that you will need to take care of elsewhere by leveling up Badges. Quickdraw is a priority, since too slow of a jumpshot is all but useless.

Once inside, play around and experiment with what feels best for you as a player. There are so many options that it is hard to go wrong if it feels right to you to get those green zones for maximum accuracy. With that said, here are few different combinations that are strong in their own ways.

Custom Jumpshots To Rise Above The Rest

Check out this first custom jumpshot if you are newer to the game or simply need a shot to ease your way into landing all those perfect green zones for the best shots.

  • Base: Carmelo Anthony
  • Release 1: Kyle Korver
  • Release 2: Release 1

Here is an example of a jumpshot that is quite slow, but accurate and useful for newer players. As you become more skilled and get a feeling for when to release the jumpshot, a quicker option might be more useful, but to start, this provides ample time to get that timing down perfectly.

  • Base: Jump Shot 35
  • Release 1: Harrison Barnes
  • Release 2: Stephen Curry

This custom jumpshot is a little faster, but it also provides the unique jumping motion of Harrison Barnes, and it too helps get a feel for the perfect time to release. The Stephen Curry is less important here, but the wrist motion at the end looks great, and reminds us of the great Steph.

For those who want something a little faster but that still looks good, consider using Base 22 or Michael Jordan. The Base 22 is probably a little faster, but not by much.

Speed It Up

Once you are comfortable with making shots and reliably getting into the green zone before release, it’s time to speed up your game. Make sure to have Quick Draw (Hall of Fame). From there, try the following combination:

  • Base: Jump Shot 38
  • Release 1: Tony Parker
  • Release 2: Carmelo Anthony

With a blend of 75%/25% between Parker and Anthony, this is one of the fastest jumpshot in the game. Having the ability to constantly land perfect shots in the green zone with this shot will make you feel lightning fast and unstoppable.

Another option for a fast, reliable jumpshot also uses Jump Shot 38, but with two different releases:

  • Base: Jump Shot 38
  • Release 1: Rudy Gay
  • Release 2: LaMarcus Aldridge

This setup still needs Quick Draw (Hall of Fame) but works wonders with its speed and reliability from virtually any start.

Make Your Own Way

These are only a few suggestions for custom jumpshots that can be useful depending on a player’s experience and playstyle. The great thing about NBA 2K20 is that there appears to be any number of great combinations if these do not suit your playstyle. At the end of the day, choose what you like best and have at it!
