When it comes to creating your MyPlayer and deciding what team you want to start your career with in MyCareer, you have to do your research and put yourself in the best position to succeed early. The best strategy is to find a team with a hole at the position you're playing and fill that need. Shooting guard is arguably the most popular position to play since it gives you the highest chance to score and handle the ball. Heading into this year's NBA 2K20 there's a good amount of teams who could use a shooting guard. Let's look at those 10 teams you should get drafted/signed by in NBA 2K20.

10 10. Los Angeles Lakers

Did the Los Angeles Lakers recently sign Danny Green to be their starting shooting guard? Well yes, they did. Is Danny Green someone you can't take their starting spot with hard work so you can play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis? Certainly not, right? If or when you would take the starting shooting guard role it would also give your team a solid shooter off the bench in Danny Green and could really give the team a boost throughout an entire game. You may not be a starter early on, but that doesn't mean it's not within reach.

9 9. Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have had Gary Harris starting at shooting guard despite his size and skills translating better at the small forward position. A roster full of young talented guys that gained a lot of valuable experience during the last NBA season could look even better with a pure shooting guard stepping out onto the court in the 2019-2020 NBA season.

The Nuggets have a solid roster with good depth that's only outdone by the Utah Jazz. For a team that's had tremendous regular season success, a stout shooting guard could make them true championship contenders.

8 8. Brooklyn Nets

Overnight the Brooklyn Nets went from a young and promising NBA team who overachieved, to a championship contender the moment Kevin Durant returns from injury. The thing is, why should the Nets have to wait a year to make that push? Imagine playing alongside a passer like Kyrie Irving who could get you the ball in promising matchups that could lead to great scoring outputs. The moment Durant returns you'll be surrounded by two of the game's best and the double teams they'll command could make you prosperous beyond belief.

7 7. Boston Celtics

On paper, the Boston Celtics already have a shooting guard in Jaylen Brown who pairs nicely with newly added starting point guard Kemba Walker. The Celtics are one of the most decorated teams in the NBA and playing for them is something many fans look forward to trying to do. Walker is a great ball distributor and leader who is simply looking to win. If you decide to go to the Celtics you'll get to play alongside him at best, and have a real fighting chance for the Sixth Man of the Year at worst. Seems like a pretty great landing spot.

6 6. Detroit Pistons

Going into the 2019-2020 NBA season, the Detroit Pistons have a starting lineup that includes the pick-and-roll combo of Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin with not much else going on. On teams that look to run pick-and-roll, it benefits them to have a roster with outside shooters who can take advantage of a collapsing defense.

Open looks will also be created when Rose and Griffin run the open floor in transition or look to back down their individual defender. Detroit may not be the ideal city to play professional basketball in, but at least it's not Cleveland.

5 5. Charlotte Hornets

Despite Terry Rozier signing with the Charlotte Hornets, they're still one of the best situations to step into as a shooting guard looking to become an NBA superstar. With Kemba Walker leaving and becoming a Boston Celtic, the Hornets now have a roster of a team who doesn't know what they're doing. If you're looking to win and have a solid team around you, you might want to choose elsewhere. This is a spot for the type of MyCareer player looking to be a statistical and organizational legend who puts his jersey in their rafters. It's for all of those NBA Dan Marinos out there.

4 4. New York Knicks

Now, yes RJ Barrett is technically a shooting guard that they drafted #2 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, but that doesn't mean he couldn't slide over to the #3 position. The New York Knicks and their fanbase are in need of a competitive team with young stars who make them excited to be a fan again. The free agency whiff was painful to see, but a young upstart shooting guard coming in and playing alongside their #2 pick could give the Knicks a one-two punch for years to come. You'll be comfortable knowing there's another rookie in it for the long haul.

3 3. Toronto Raptors

Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green are no longer a part of the NBA Championship roster, which means there's an opening and a need for a consistent scorer. Though Pascal Siakam is an emerging star, Toronto still needs someone else who can create their own scoring opportunities and provide the team with points on a nightly basis.

The beauty of playing a video game is that the inconveniences Leonard potentially faced as an American living in Canada don't affect you at all. No one stays a Raptor long enough to create a grand legacy, but that could be you.

2 2. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder were much lower on this list, but with the recent trade of Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers and Russell Westbrook also likely on his way out, they became an ideal landing spot. Is Oklahoma City a huge NBA market? Well, the answer's obviously a resounding no. It does happen to be a place where you can start early, and if they don't move Steven Adams, gives you a great big to play alongside. If Westbrook is traded this Summer it also gives you the ability to play the point alongside defensive stud Andre Roberson.

1 1. Minnesota Timberwolves

During the 2019 NBA Free Agency period, many Minnesota Timberwolves fans were hopeful that free agent point guard D'Angelo Russell could possibly choose to sign with their team. Obviously, he ended up going to the Golden State Warriors, and the Timberwolves are sporting a roster with Jeff Teague, Karl Anthony-Towns, and Andrew Wiggins. It's a team devoid of any shooters or playmakers, that can't seem to sign anyone or trade Wiggins for something. As a shooting guard, you can come in and immediately be the go-to scorer and take advantage of the pick-and-roll with Anthony-Towns.
