NBA 2K21 recently released, and despite the NBA's odd bubble playoffs set to end soon, fans are excited to spend time in the game for many more months. The MyTeam mode in the game allows players to acquire cards of certain players throughout the NBA's history and build their dream rosters.

Every basketball fan has their preferences and playing styles, but having a solid point guard is essential. With all of the cards to choose from in NBA 2K21 which point guards happen to be the best of the best?

10 Steve Nash '05 (93)

steve nash

Steve Nash was recently named the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, a privilege he earned thanks to a Hall of Fame career. He helped lead the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns to plenty of playoff success and was the iconic point guard inspiration for an entire generation.

His vision and creativity are almost unmatched and his 93 overall card displaying his 2005 NBA season proves how talented the Canadian playmaker was. His handles and passer ratings are all above 90, which seems about right, if not a bit low for Nash.

9 Gary Payton '06 (93)

gary payton

When people think about the point guard position they think about players who can distribute the ball the teammates for assists, and in the current state of the NBA players who are pure scorers. Gary Payton is very much the antithesis to this and the man known as the "Glove" is paired well with an excellent shooting guard.

Thankfully in NBA 2K21's MyTeam you can plan for this and pair the tremendous defender with another guard who can take care of scoring and ball-handling on offense.

8 Russell Westbrook (94)

Now, you may be asking yourself how Russell Westbrook has a 94 overall card in NBA 2K21's MyTeam mode. The truth of the matter is that back in Oklahoma City Westbrook was a much better shooter, point guard, and playmaker for his team.

The player you currently see in a Houston Rockets jersey is certainly a shell of his former self. This card celebrates his former self with a 94 overall ratings and outside of defending in the low post or blocking shots he can contribute to any team in need of a point guard.

7 Jerry West '72 (94)

The NBA wouldn't be what it is today without Jerry West, as he's the man that's on the logo of the entire league. The Los Angeles Lakers great comes from a great lineage of point guards who played in the purple and gold and much of his legacy was lost to time and the emergence of Magic Johnson in the same jersey years later.

He's not much of a rebounder but his 94 overall card can do anything you'd expect from a Hall of Fame point guard near the end of his career during the 1972 NBA season.

6 Bob Cousy '70 (95)

bob cousy

Outside of Boston, Bob Cousy may simply be known as another Celtics great who won championships, but he was a stellar point guard in his own right. Standing just north of 6' and weighing only 175lbs, Cousy managed to win 6 NBA championships.

For his career, he averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game which is unheard of for a point guard in the 1950s. NBA 2K21's MyTeam gifted Cousy with a 95 overall card that's almost entirely green ratings across the board, with anything inside the paint being his glaring weakness.

5 Jo Jo White '81 (95)

jo jo white

The Boston Celtics are a team that's accomplished so much in the NBA that even the most dedicated of fans have trouble remembering all of the names of former Celtics greats. Jo Jo White is the one name on this list most people will have to Google search, which is a shame considering he has a 95 overall card.

Not only was he a part of two championship teams, but White was also the NBA Finals MVP of the 1976 NBA Finals. He also set a franchise record of playing in an astounding 488 straight games in the green and white.

4 Baron Davis '12 (96)

The small lineup implemented by the Houston Rockets in recent years may seem fresh and inventive, but the Golden State Warriors were ahead of the pack in that regard. As the Steph Curry era was set to begin, Baron Davis happened to be the team's starting point guard in 2012.

He ran and lead a team of shooters who looked to favor scoring over defense and rebounding. His 96 overall card has a playmaking ability of 92 and can run circles around opponents in NBA 2K21's MyTeam mode.

3 Stephen Curry (96)

steph curry

Stephen Curry is the best point guard in many people's eyes despite missing almost the entirety of the 2020 NBA season due to injury. Curry's shooting ability is often the thing people focus on, but his passing ability is good enough to make him a stellar point guard.

He may not be the best defender or inside scorer, but that's not what you put him into your lineup to do. His 96 overall card will have you draining deep shots as it comes with a 3-point shot rating of 98 which is incredibly high, but incredibly accurate.

2 Damian Lillard (96)

dame lillard

Steph Curry and Damian Lillard both having 96 overall cards in NBA 2K21's MyTeam is pretty interesting considering each of those player's fan bases. Depending on who you ask many NBA fans consider one better than the other and crown them as the best point guard in the NBA.

The big difference between their two cards is that Lillard is a bit better of a rebounder and can have a more consistent contribution inside the paint. You can't go wrong with either as they both are snipers from behind the 3-point line, though.

1 Derrick Rose (97)

derrick rose

Nowadays Derrick Rose is considered a crafty and talented veteran who's currently being courted by most championship contenders. Upon his arrival in the NBA back in 2008, Rose hit the ground running, winning an MVP in 2011, before knee injuries turned a Hall of Fame career into a battle of pride.

He's been able to prove himself and earn respect once again in the NBA and this 97 overall card in NBA 2K21's MyTeam feels like a way to pay respect to the career fans and the NBA were never able to see become fully realized.
