PlayStation has announced a partnership with the NBA to host an NBA 2K21 online fan tournament. This tournament, which will kick off later this week, is in celebration of the upcoming 2021 NBA Finals and will offer players some sweet prizes. Not to mention bragging rights.
The NBA 2K21 PlayStation Tournaments: NBA Finals will be split into two tournaments, with one for PlayStation 4 users and one for those on PlayStation 5. This will give fans on both systems the opportunity to participate and come away with some cool prizes, including a PlayStation 5 console. Also, as a neat detail, the tournament will have players distributed amongst the two teams that will play against each other in the NBA Finals – The Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks. This way, basketball fans can imagine what it's like to play in the NBA’s biggest event without leaving the comfort of their couch.
Open qualifiers for the competition will begin on July 9. Beginning now, players in the United States and Europe can sign up for the NBA 2K21 PlayStation Tournaments: NBA Finals Qualifiers. Each winner in the free, single-elimination qualifier bracket will then face-off in the finals. PlayStation 4 signups can be found here, while PlayStation 5 signups are found here.
After the qualifiers, the NBA 2K21 PlayStation Tournaments: NBA Finals will take place. On July 10, fans can catch the finalists going head-to-head in best-of-3 matches that are sure to be fast-paced and exciting as they all vie for the top spot. These finals will be broadcast live on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
You won’t want to miss the action as players try and prove their worth on the court while fighting for some awesome prizes, which are slightly different for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 tournaments. For the PS5 tournament, the prizes include:
- 1st place: $500 cash and 250 PS Store credit
- 2nd place: 200 PS Store credit
- 3rd place: 50 PS Store credit
Meanwhile, PS4 users can win:
- 1st place: PS5 console and 250 PS Store credit
- 2nd place: 200 PS Store credit
- 3rd place: 50 PS Store credit
