Toy company NECA are taking fans of the popular 90’s video game and animation show back to its questionable live event. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live show Coming Out of Their Shells is finally being remembered through its very own action figures.

Initially promoted as a convention exclusive, NECA’s Musical Mutagen Tour set will now be available from Target due to the cancellation of all conventions this year. The action figures will be available in store and online from July 23 for $125 for all four tour turtles including detailed packaging, instruments, a toy pizza and interchangeable hands. Collectors can pay an extra $25 on the Target website for an accessory pack that includes a t-shirt, backstage pass, bag, a pretend ticket and a set of guitar picks. The accessories feature a new design created especially for the toy set promotion that is different from the art featured in the live event.

As NECA is celebrating the 90’s live show that got terrible reviews, the company has made some other alterations. As well as changing the art, NECA have also swapped Raphael and Michelangelo’s instruments and have decided not to include the costume change that the Turtles went through before the live show. While some die hard TMNT fans are annoyed and confused by the change, others are just thankful that these versions are being released.

American collectibles manufacturer NECA has a long and impressive list of over 60 licenses with various films, television shows and video games. Producing many action figures from its division NECA’s Reel Toys since 2002, the company have released many TMNT toys and collectibles over the years, including the recent 7 inch scale action figures. The toys that were released in 2018 were originally a Gamestop exclusive and became extremely popular despite its high retail price. The set of 4 turtles came highly detailed with articulated joints and weapons that produced some stunning and realistic images from collector’s photography.

Coming Out of Their Shells was a live Ninja Turtles musical tour that premiered back in 1990. The tour was broadcast live on Pay-Per-View and a VHS recording was later made available with a soundtrack. Sponsored by Pizza Hut, the tour received a lot of criticism for its disappointing costumes and flaky narrative that starred the iconic turtles as band members. Leonardo played bass, Donatello on keys, Raphael on percussion and Michaelangelo on guitar and lead vocals. Guests included Master Splinter, April O’Neil, and The Shredder.

Customers will be able to purchase the Coming Out of Their Shells figures from NECA’s website.
